Nestle changed them again!

Very disappointed with the newest changes that Nestle has made to the Garden of Life products. These used to be in capsules and now they are really large hard to swallow pills. The type that don't break down as well for digestion. We have been faithful Garden of Life users for many years now. The first changes they made to the meal replacement prosecutes when Nestle acquired the company was very disappointing but that was just the beginning of the downgrading of the entire line. These men's vitamins only fill maybe a third of the jar. My husband claims it is only a fourth full. I am shocked at the wasteful use of packaging, it is a terrible marketing ploy to make you feel like you are getting more but this is pretty outrageous for over two thirds of the bottle to be stuffed with cotton. Shame, shame on you Nestle and your poor stewardship of the limited resources of this planet. We will no longer be using any of the Garden of Life products any more and I urge other consumers to realize that the Garden of Life brands are now a distant representation of the original high quality Swiss products that they once wer

B6 Toxicity and nerve damage

Took this product for a long time while working out. Was having terrible nerve sensations and thought I had MS. After some labs I found out my B6 plasma was over triple the normal blood levels. Turns out this water soluble vitamin has a half life over over a month, taking 500% daily can build up in your body. I had no idea that B6 was toxic to your nerves over normal levels. Well now, over a year later and I'm still suffering. Go look up B6 toxicity for yourself and then decide if a daily supplement with 500% daily value is one you want to buy

Bioavailability Claims Obvious

You have probably experienced taking a multivitamin and wondering if you are paying a great deal of money for pretty urine. That is caused by the excretion of those expensive ingredients through your kidneys, making the output quite colorful. That did not happen with this vitamin! Physiologically, the urine remains light lemon colored, which is ideal, by the way. This shows that the ingredients are metabolized in the liver, so the body is actually treating the vitamins as food and not as chemicals. I have never NOT experienced the “pretty urine” occurance, and just expect it to happen when taking an oral vitamin supplement. My perception of Garden of Life products is extremely positive, and this enthusiastically gets 5 stars from me! If anything changes, I'll let you know

The best multivitamin for me.

So far these are the best quality vitamins I can find on the market bearing in mind decent pricing. As opposed to some of the culture media type vitamins out there most of the nutrients in this one come from the actual organic food blend. I am not a scientist, and I have had no problems with the cultured vitamins, but I think I will be sticking with these based on the somewhat more basic idea of actual food supplying your vitamins. As many know this is not a mineral supplement, and you should get those separately. This will supply all of your needs with Vitamins along with a smaller portion of mineral needs from various organic foods that you can read on the label at Amazon. I also highly recommend GoL's protein shakes as they are amazing quality for a good price as well and will help you possibly limit how many one a day's you actually need. For me I usually take one of these every other day. The important thing to me is to not depend on these every day for your body's needs. They are an amazing supplement, and as close to food as you can get these days, but it's also helpful to maintain a balanced diet

Enjoy the mix

After doing Habit diet analysis and 23&me DNA analysis, I had some very specific dietary recommendations that were rather hard to find in as few vitamins as possible. This was the winner for me! It comes in a glass bottle and reminds me of the days of old when things were made high quality, like a Kitchen Aid Mixer. I don't have any issues caused by them (acid, taste, burp, etc.) though I will be honest they do have that true old vitamin scent. (sort of umami). If you don't keep them tightly sealed, you'll eventually notice a sort of food-ish smell. They are all naturally sourced, so this is probably why. Very pleased, and continuing to buy this brand

Allergic Reaction or Niacin Flush?

If you think you've experienced an allergic reaction after taking these vitamins you need to read this. My wife and I both experienced symptoms like reddening of the skin and burning/tingling sensation at the face, ears, and neck after taking these multivitamins. We thought we were experiencing an allergic reaction to food since it didn't always happen after taking the vitamins but after calling the company the mystery became clear. The company said that people sometimes experience these symptoms due to a “niacin flush” if they take the multivitamins on an empty stomach or before a meal. They admitted it feels scary but claimed its completely harmless to the body. To their credit they do state to “take 1 tablet daily with food” on the bottle although I think they it would be very helpful if they added a warning about the adverse side effects if you take it on any empty stomach just for clarification. Since this experience we have taken the multivitamin only AFTER we finish a meal and so far no more adverse side effects. If you are curious about the niacin flush, google it, there is lots of info about it. One thing I learned was that too much niacin is bad for the body. May Clinic recommends 16mg daily for men and 14mg for women. This company provides 20mg for both men and women. Its not a lot more but its still more. Apparently when you get into the thousands it can be dangerous. Mayo Clinic has an article on this. Google it for mor info. Thats it. I don't write many reviews but I wanted to share what I learned with everyone because my wife and I were a little alarmed at first and trying to understand what was happening. I hope after reading this you feel more informed and hopefully a little more relaxed :

I will not order these again after almost a decade of ordering them every month

What is wrong with you? Do you know the kind of people that are interested in your product? I have ordered this vitamin like clockwork for about a decade and this will be my last order. Many years ago I wanted to find the best vitamin on the market just to see how much it cost and if I could afford to buy it on a regular basis. Originally that was this product. It is certified organic, whole food, and had every vitamin and mineral (in the correct quantities) that I wanted in my daily regimen. I think the company was bought a little while back and they added palm oil to the 'other ingredients'. I could stomach that change. After all the texture and smell of the vitamins were not entirely consistent and I eat and consumer other products that have non-optimal oils in them, but then I looked today and they have added organic dextrose (an paradoxical phonemic pairing if ever I saw one) and maltodextrin. These are both 'no-goes' for me. Garden of Life needs to understand that the people who buy this product are the kind of people that read every ingredient and look them all up and understand the intricacies of nutrition. This product was never going to be popular with the general public. Most people want the cheapest product that gets them the highest levels of synthetic vitamins possible in the most uniform container possible. Now will begin the long, arduous process of shopping for a new vitamin supplement that checks off all of my boxes but doesn't add extraneous ingredients to cater to the uneducated complainers who were going to be upset almost no matter the composition or taste of the product. Next I am going to have to research my probiotic that I currently buy from Garden of Life and see how they have tampered with its ingredients. Hopefully they have left it alone for now

Good ingredients

I consistently buy these vitamins and the womens because of the natural ingredients. I love that its plant based and quality. Expensive but im sure expensive to source all of the ingredients. Has helped me with anemia when I consistently take them... that being said I am extremely disappointed to find out they added maltodextrin and palm oil!!! Everything nestle touches they ruin. If anyone finds an actually clean alternative please do us all a favor & post it in your review!! I call bs on any palm oil being ethically sourced... Whats worse is they thought we wouldn't notice
