Gave Me Heart Flutters So I Had To Stop Taking It
This review is for the Nutiva Organic MCT Oil, 128 oz bottle. I have used MCT oil in my coffee for several years now, along with 2 Tblspns of butter, and 2 Tblspns of heavy whipping cream, and blend it well, before drinking. I always make sure the bottle says it is 100% from coconuts whichever brand I buy. I thought that I had previously purchased a smaller size of the Nutiva MCTs at Whole Foods, so when I saw the 128 oz bottle, I thought I would purchase it to save some money. After the first day of using this oil, my heart started feeling weird, but I didn't associate it with the oil; I thought it was stress from work. So I added it to my coffee the next morning too, and again noticed my heart making fluttering kind of feelings, almost feeling like my heart was skipping beats. It didn't make sense to me that this was happening from stress a second day, so I was suspicious of the MCTs. So I Googled it and found results saying that some types of MCTs, including the BulletProof brand, have been reported to give people heart related side effects. So, I immediately stopped taking the oil and called my doctor who said this should not be happening and not to consume this anymore. Needless to say, I'm out a bunch of money for buying this huge bottle. If you have not used this brand before, you may want to try it the smaller size before splurging and getting the 128 oz bottle. Aside from the heart flutters, the oil was satisfactory: As with other MCTs I have consumed, this oil was tasteless, was not rancid, and I did not notice anything negative about the oil.
