A potential cure for light sensitivity and chronic migraines. I am ecstatic! After suffering from chronic migraines for eight years, this new supplement has made a significant difference. Despite consultations with eye doctors and MDs, no one suggested lutein as a remedy for migraines. It occurred to me that this might help with my extreme light sensitivity under fluorescent lights, and it did! My chronic migraines have gone from unbearable to tolerable—truly life-changing! I hope others with migraines read this and spread the word.

Carotenoids linked to heart health
Inverse Relationship Between Serum Carotenoid Levels and Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome Among the General Adult Population.
Most Relevant Research
We explored the relationship between serum levels of carotenoids, like lutein, and cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome in over 1,600 U.S. adults. Through extensive analysis, we found that higher lutein levels corresponded with a lower likelihood of advanced CKM syndrome. Other carotenoids also showed similar protective effects, but β-cryptoxanthin did not demonstrate any significant benefit. This suggests that increasing intake of carotenoids, especially lutein, may be a smart choice for heart health.

Lutein shows promise in inflammation reduction
Lutein exerts anti-inflammatory effects in patients with coronary artery disease.
Most Relevant Research
We explored the potential of lutein, a carotenoid, in reducing chronic inflammation in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). By analyzing blood samples from 134 stable angina patients and 59 with acute coronary syndrome, we noted a link between lutein levels and reduced inflammation markers like interleukin-6 (IL-6). Notably, when blood cells were treated with lutein, it showed significant anti-inflammatory effects.

While these results are promising, they point toward lutein's potential rather than a definitive solution for chest pain in CAD patients.

Reduced eye pain
Most Useful Review
Taking one capsule daily has significantly eased the pain and dryness in my eyes over the past two weeks. Though my vision remains around -8 due to a retinal detachment, I see better at night, and the discomfort from using the computer has almost vanished. Even while using Taufon drops, which I've taken for a long time without lutein, I notice little difference.

Floaters improved
Most Useful Review
Previously, I experienced many eye troubles. After restarting lutein, I noticed the floaters had disappeared after some time. I had also tried eye drops with no effect. I believe the combination of riboflavin, ginkgo, and lecithin may also play a role, but I will continue with lutein.

Lutein shows cardioprotective benefits
The protective role of lutein on isoproterenol-induced cardiac failure rat model through improving cardiac morphology, antioxidant status via positively regulating Nrf2/HO-1 signalling pathway.
Most Relevant Research
We explored how lutein, a powerful carotenoid, impacts heart health in a study involving healthy male rats. The rats were divided into groups to compare the effects of lutein with a control group and those induced with heart issues.

Our findings revealed that pre-treatment with lutein significantly reduced damage and improved heart function after induced heart problems. Specifically, lutein lowered infarct size and several harmful markers while enhancing beneficial antioxidant levels.

These promising results suggest that lutein could provide protective benefits against heart complications in future therapies.

Reduced glare sensitivity
Most Useful Review
My ophthalmologist recommended a lutein supplement, and I am glad I followed his advice. Since starting, I’ve noticed a substantial reduction in sensitivity to glare that had previously hindered my night driving. Lutein is known for its role in preventing macular degeneration and reducing cataract risk. It promotes eye health, especially lens density. I'm particularly pleased, as it’s beneficial for those of us who struggle with dark greens in our diets. I rely on Jarrow products, which I find to be effective and reasonably priced.

Carotenoids may reduce migraines
Association between serum carotenoids levels and severe headache or migraine in adults: a cross-sectional study from NHANES.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated the relationship between carotenoid levels in the blood and the prevalence of severe headaches or migraines among US adults. Using data from over 8,900 participants in the NHANES survey, we found a noteworthy inverse association between levels of lutein, zeaxanthin, and several other carotenoids with the incidence of migraines.

While these findings suggest that carotenoids might offer some protective benefits, further research is needed to confirm these results and understand how they work.

Lutein protects against liver injury
Lutein Prevents Liver Injury and Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction in Rats Subjected to Chronic Alcohol Intake.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated the effects of lutein on liver and intestinal health in rats subjected to chronic alcohol consumption. Over a 14-week period, groups of rats received various doses of lutein while others were exposed to ethanol.

Our results showed that lutein actively reduced liver injury by mitigating oxidative stress and inflammation related to alcohol intake. We observed improvements in liver tissue integrity and intestinal barrier function.

However, it is important to note that these findings are specific to the rat model used in the study and may not translate directly to humans.

Lutein reduces inflammation in TAO
Lutein targeting orbital fibroblasts attenuates fibrotic and inflammatory effects in thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy.
Most Relevant Research
We investigated how lutein might help with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), a condition marked by inflammation and fibrosis. In our in vitro study, lutein was applied to orbital fibroblasts before introducing fibrotic and inflammatory triggers.

We observed that lutein reduced important markers related to fibrosis and inflammation, such as ACTA2 and IL-6, while also curtailing cell migration. The research highlights lutein's possible therapeutic role due to its ability to inhibit harmful processes seen in TAO, suggesting it could be a promising treatment option.

Despite having amblyopia, my work heavily strains my eyes. Although I didn't expect dramatic improvements, after three months of Lutein, my eyes feel less tired and the scratching has almost stopped. While I still experience some dryness, the discomfort has decreased significantly.
