We explored the potential of melatonin as a treatment for H1N1 flu infection. In our study, we found that melatonin, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound, could significantly protect against the flu in both laboratory tests and in living mice.

Our findings showed that higher local levels of melatonin in the nose and lungs correlated with lower death rates from the virus. In fact, melatonin-deficient mice had much higher mortality rates, which were notably reduced when treated with melatonin.

We discovered that melatonin primarily works by targeting mast cells, which are important players in the body’s immune response. By suppressing the activation of these cells after H1N1 infection, melatonin helps control the release of inflammatory proteins, leading to less damage in lung tissue. This mechanism highlights how melatonin treatment can prevent serious lung injury caused by the virus, opening up new avenues for post-flu recovery strategies.

Great throat relief
Most Useful Review
I bought it for myself and take it regularly. Previously, I used picolinate, but I opted for these lozenges this time and I’m very pleased (even though the zinc is in a different form here)! The taste is lovely and it soothes my throat while dissolving. Occasionally, I've felt nauseous after taking zinc (especially from pharmaceutical forms), but I didn't experience that with these lozenges. If you do, try taking them with food. I've noticed the effect; I also use it at the onset of a sore throat, as directed every two hours, which significantly eases my discomfort. I highly recommend it!

The quality is excellent. I recommend it for anyone with a child who struggles with sleep, but it's important to ensure it suits them. Adults may benefit too. I suggest trying it, as it does not cause constipation or stomach discomfort. Using it for three months is ideal, and it’s tasteless. I hope my feedback is helpful.

We focused on the effects of oral melatonin on anxiety and pain in children during the stressful process of venipuncture. In a double-blind, randomized controlled trial, we found that administering 0.5 mg/kg of melatonin 30 minutes before the procedure significantly reduced both pain and anxiety levels compared to a placebo.

The results showed that only 18.8% of the kids receiving melatonin reported pain, while 78.2% in the placebo group did. Furthermore, anxiety affected 44.6% of the melatonin group compared to 94.1% of those in the control group.

While melatonin appeared to improve experiences during venipuncture, its impact on the success rate was not statistically significant.

Calms my son's anxiety. I purchased these for my 7-year-old son who suffers from anxiety and nightmares. Giving him one gummy at night eases his anxiety, allowing him to sleep more peacefully. Previously, he would awaken numerous times; now he may wake only once, which is a remarkable improvement. He's become quite fond of them, asking for his gummy each night.

Magical! I bought this for my 9-year-old with ASD. She has never been able to fall asleep easily, and we've tried everything. She takes half a gummy each night, and for the first time in her life, I have my evenings back as she goes straight off to sleep. She is more rested and gets up for school more easily. It's honestly been life-changing.

We investigated how melatonin affects patients with obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia. In a double-blind trial, thirty patients received either 10 mg of melatonin or a placebo for a month.

The results were striking; those taking melatonin reported better sleep quality, less daytime sleepiness, and greater adherence to their PAP devices. Improvements were noted across several assessments: the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Insomnia Severity Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and Functional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnaire showed significant gains for the melatonin group.

Thus, melatonin appears to be a promising option to enhance sleep quality and treatment compliance in this challenging patient group.

We explored how bright light therapy (BLT) can influence ADHD symptoms, especially in individuals with sleep-wake rhythm delays. The study involved participants undergoing standard treatments along with two weeks of morning BLT, which successfully advanced melatonin release and sleep timing.

As a result, we observed a significant reduction in ADHD symptoms, particularly in hyperactivity and impulsivity. Although the therapy did not change sleep quality significantly, it highlighted potential as a complementary approach to traditional ADHD treatments.

This study marks an encouraging step in finding effective alternatives for managing ADHD symptoms.

Would rate it higher if I could. We absolutely adore this product. It has been such a blessing for my daughter. Bedtime has transformed from a 2-3 hour struggle into a peaceful routine where I can read her a story, kiss her goodnight, and walk away in under half an hour. She wakes up refreshed and calm. As she is coeliac (we’re in Australia), we appreciate that it is gluten free. I highly recommend this for any child experiencing separation anxiety at night.

We investigated the role of melatonin in enhancing synaptic development in mouse models of autism. Through long-term oral administration over 28 days, melatonin improved social interactions and dendritic spine density in genetically modified mice.

Importantly, we found that melatonin's benefits are linked to the activation of a specific signaling pathway in the brain. However, when this pathway was blocked, the positive effects of melatonin on synaptic function were diminished. Overall, our findings highlight melatonin's promise for addressing certain autism-related challenges.

We explored how melatonin treatment affects chilling injury in bananas during cold storage. The study revealed that bananas treated with 500 μmol L of melatonin significantly reduced the signs of chilling injury compared to untreated control fruits during 96 hours of storage.

We observed notable changes in the activity of reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism. The melatonin-treated bananas showed lower rates of ROS production while also displaying higher levels of beneficial compounds like ascorbic acid and glutathione. Furthermore, the treatment helped maintain the activity of key antioxidant enzymes that typically decline under cold stress.

A thorough analysis of gene expression found 1858 differentially expressed genes, indicating how melatonin influences various biological pathways in the fruit. Interestingly, melatonin seems to boost the expression of antioxidant enzyme genes while inhibiting the expression of a gene responsible for ROS production.

Overall, these findings provide valuable insights into how melatonin can effectively mitigate cold-related injuries in bananas, helping preserve their quality during storage.

We developed a new way to deliver melatonin for those struggling with insomnia by creating microneedles made from silk fibroin. These tiny needles are designed to improve how the body absorbs melatonin, making it easier for people to get to sleep and stay asleep.

Our research shows that these microneedles can release melatonin steadily over a period of 11 hours. When we tested it on animals, we found that the microneedles maintained stable levels of drug in the bloodstream for up to 8 hours. This is promising news for individuals who may need help with their sleep cycles.

Additionally, the microneedles not only helped regulate sleep but also made a noticeable difference in anxiety levels in insomnia model rats. By improving the disrupted circadian rhythms, melatonin loaded into these microneedles could lead to significant therapeutic benefits.

We believe this innovative approach could enhance patient compliance and provide effective sleep aid for many in need. It’s an exciting development in the field of transdermal drug delivery for improving sleep quality and overcoming insomnia.

Sleep hormone stabilises insomnia, depression, and autonomic dysfunction, particularly in menopause and old age. The natural ingredients alleviate stress, boost brain function, enhance concentration, and improve mood. The medium-sized capsules contain GABA, a neurotransmitter that enhances sleep quality. During sleep, the highest levels of growth hormone are released, and GABA helps mitigate stress factors for deeper, more effective sleep. The dosage is optimal.

We evaluated whether melatonin and bright-light phototherapy could help alleviate symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). In a controlled study with thirty participants, we assessed the effectiveness of these treatments by measuring various symptoms over several weeks.

Unfortunately, we found that neither melatonin nor phototherapy led to significant improvements in the patients’ symptoms or overall health. Our findings suggest that these treatments shouldn't be promoted for CFS unless proven beneficial.

We assessed how melatonin affects dizziness in patients dealing with sleep disturbances tied to psychiatric conditions. In a study with 175 participants, we found that melatonin was slightly less effective than trazodone and doxepin in improving overall sleep quality. However, it stood out for having a low incidence of adverse effects. Specifically, the rates of dizziness associated with melatonin use were measured, showing a relatively low occurrence.

While it did not provide the most substantial improvement in sleep quality, melatonin showed promise in enhancing tolerability among users. Only 10% of participants reported dizziness, which indicates that melatonin might be a safer option for those worried about side effects from more potent medications. By choosing melatonin, patients can potentially find a balance between managing sleep disturbances while minimizing unwanted symptoms like dizziness.

Overall, we observed that for individuals focused on avoiding adverse effects, melatonin serves as a viable alternative within this treatment landscape. Its effectiveness in curbing dizziness contributes to discussions on how best to treat sleep disorders in psychiatric patients without compromising their comfort.

We explored how melatonin could affect nausea in patients with small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs). Our research involved studying tumor tissue from 26 patients, examining their primary tumors alongside metastases for the presence of melatonin and its receptors.

Interestingly, we found that higher melatonin levels in the body were linked to reported experiences of nausea. Specifically, patients with higher plasma melatonin levels at both time points indicated more frequent nausea occurrences. This underscores the potential role of melatonin in influencing nausea symptoms.

However, it's notable that in those cases where the disease was stable or improving, plasma levels of melatonin dropped after treatment, suggesting a complicated relationship between melatonin levels and treatment responses. These findings provide some valuable insights into the endocrine roles of melatonin in SI-NETs and signal a need for future studies to further dissect these relationships.
