Should have never stopped taking this. I used this for years growing up and switched to Imodium AD when it became available over the counter, but it always caused stomach pain. I then hesitated to take anti-diarrhoeals, fearing food poisoning. However, I discovered that Pepto Bismol binds to E-Coli, effectively eliminating it from my body. Originally an infant cholera treatment, I'm now back to Pepto Bismol and find it beneficial not only for diarrhoea but also for heartburn and gas, and it helps me sleep despite stomach discomfort. I'm not fond of the liquid and disliked the chewables, so the caplets are ideal for me and significantly cheaper than at the shop.
