Caution apparently they're unloading old stock on unsuspecting customers

Ordered 1/6/18 from NJ, received by USPS 1/13/18 from Lullaby Baby 1784 Atlantic Ave. Brooklyn, NY. Had read Amazon Q&A listed response to direct question about expiration date stating they only offer an expiration date of 4/2024, 6 years and 3 months into the industry accepted 7 year shelf life, but accepted. What was received were all production stamped with "EXP 10/2022". Yeah, 4 years and 9 months left, but still the unloading of not fresh meds but an old stock of meds well into the expiration expected to be 7 years out. This stuff isn't like cans of soup that you can choose to use up due to a looming expiration date. This stuff is medical in nature, isn't to be taken arbitrarily, needs to be available and viable in a future emergency, and shouldn't be sold this far into the expected expiration date range

Expiration Date 10/2021 … BUT

Shipping was fast and the pills were definitely protected in a bubble wrapped envelop. Because the seller was Nukepills dot com I was under the assumption the expiration date would be March 2023. This is what is advertised on their website but what I received has an expiration date of 10/2021. As you can imagine I was I was pretty disappointed BUT after doing some research I found out iodide tablets are inherently stable. From the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, FAQ, Is it safe to take KI tablets with an expired shelf-life? (KI is potassium iodide) Quote, “Yes, potassium iodide tablets are inherently stable and do not lose their effectiveness over time.” “Manufacturers must label their products with a shelf-life to ensure that consumers purchase safe and useful products.” “According to FDA guidance on Shelf-life Extension, studies over many years have confirmed that none of the components of KI tablets, including the active ingredient, has any significant potential for chemical degradation or interaction with other components or with components of the container closure system when stored according to labeled directions. To date, the only observed changes during stability (shelf-life) testing have been the failure of some batches of KI tablets to meet dissolution specifications. Some tablets tested required slightly longer than the specified time to achieve dissolution. Even in the case of a failure of this sort, the product remains usable.” So apparently and evidently, iOSAT tablets (or other potassium iodide tablets) do not expireâ€

Good Source for an Excellent Brand of Emergency Iodine Tablets

Back in March of 2011, when the 3 nuclear reactors had a meltdown at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant in Japan, I tried to buy emergency Iodine tablets to protect my thyroid from radioactive Iodine-131 which was heading towards America that week. However, my order was delayed from the manufacturer for weeks, because the government had a massive order for the same thing that bogged down the manufacturer. Since those tablets that I bought in 2011 are getting close to the expiration date, I decided to order more, since I want to be prepared ahead of time in case there are more large releases of Iodine-131 from those or other nuclear power plant disasters. This time, I found I could buy the exact same emergency iOSAT Potassium Iodide Tablets through several different suppliers through Amazon.com. I chose this supplier, since they provided the expiration date for their present supply

DO NOT buy at the panic price, it is double the usual for a non existant threat. Price gouging at its finest. Get Food and Water

This North Korea threat is scaring people and these company are using that fear to double the price (currently up to fourteen dollars since six yesterday). The reality is that it is never likely to happen because of NK. This happens every time this NK threat pops up, it will be back down in days if people don't buy into the fake threat. At the six / seven dollar price point you should buy it to have it on hand because the Russian scenario is more likely but still a ways off. This product is normally just under seven dollars, DO NOT BUY AT A FAKE PANIC PRICE. The product can help you for the radioactive threat in the first few weeks after a ground based attack. The main threat from NK is an EMP which is set off at an altitude high enough it is of NO RADIOACTIVE THREAT to the USA. You are better off going and buying a supply of high protein canned food and a hand can opener and bottled water or a few camping containers to fill with tap water. Power loss is a far greater threat than radiation at this point. Also do not throw this product away because it is out of date, it is a mineral that will last likely many decades beyond that date with little if any loss of effectiveness

Know your dosage!

Especially important for children and adults over 40. From the CDC website: Adults older than 40 years should not take KI (potassium iodide) unless public health or emergency management officials say that contamination with a VERY LARGE dose of radioactive iodine is expected. (emphasis added) *Adults older than 40 years have the lowest chance of developing thyroid cancer or thyroid injury after contamination with radioactive iodine. *Adults older than 40 are more likely to have allergic reactions to or adverse effects from KI. *Newborns from birth to 1 month of age should be given 16 mg (Â¼ of a 65 mg tablet or Â¼ mL of solution). This dose is for both nursing and non-nursing newborn infants. *Infants and children between 1 month and 3 years of age should take 32 mg (Â½ of a 65 mg tablet OR Â½ mL of solution). This dose is for both nursing and non-nursing infants and children. *Children between 3 and 18 years of age should take 65 mg (one 65 mg tablet OR 1 mL of solution). Children who are adult size (greater than or equal to 150 pounds) should take the full adult dose, regardless of their age. *Adults should take 130 mg (one 130 mg tablet OR two 65 mg tablets OR two mL of solution). *Women who are breastfeeding should take the adult dose of 130 mg. *Infants who receive more than a single dose of KI should have their thyroid hormone levels checked and monitored by a doctor. *AVOID REPEAT DOSING OF KI TO NEWBORNS (emphasis provided by the CDC) *Avoid repeat dosing with KI (potassium iodide) for pregnant and breastfeeding women and newborn infants. Using Iodine isn't without risk, even in low doses as in water treatment. It should go without saying that using levels high enough to completely saturate your thyroid gland (almost 900 times the US RDA) is obviously inherently dangerous. This is why it's instructed to NOT take these unless told to do so by emergency personnel, and then only one dose, unless instructed to take for a few days only

Where's The Expiration Date?

Ok, so I saw several people say their product arrived with either an expired expiration date or no expiration date at all. I still decided to order because I was ordering from a different company than they were. Well, the same exact thing happened to me. I ordered from Universal-Sales and there is no expiration date on the tablets. I even looked closely to see if it had been removed - I don't even see an erased imprint. I emailed the company asking for a refund on the (3) packs I ordered. The company replied apologizing blaming it on their supplier. I was immediately issued a refund and told I did not have to return the tablets I have. I replied and said if they can guarantee tablets with un-expired dates printed on them that I would reorder from them. The reply I got was they could not guarantee that :/ So I would have to give a poor review for Universal-Sales' iSOAT Potassium Iodide product. I would appreciate feedback from someone, who got un-expired tablets, about what comany they ordered from. I really want these tablets in my supplies

Better to have and not need it then to need it and not be able to get it. As far as people saying maybe their getting "rid of old stock" i dont think so and EVEN so its very stable stuff it loses efficiency by a small amount even 10 years past ext date. And to me a 3-5% loss in efficiency would not be my biggest concern if i needed to take or give them to my family becuase of an emergency. I would just be glad to have them. But mine was marked well and pills seemed to be intact. Anyway hope something i said helps someon

Expiration Date 10/2024, sealed in plastic and foil

I hope I never have to use them do to war. These are sealed in labeled foil, and again in plastic package slim enough to carry in a pants pocket. This can be taken whole or mixed with other food items. Comes with instruction and dosage guide (based on age and weight: adult 130 mg (1 tablet) per day, and 2 more dosage levels for kids. Use stated for Emergency Radiation Only. You will need a separate device to measure radiation levels (we have the old Civil Defense Geiger Counter and the new digital Geiger counter

Notes on packaging and thoughts

Comes as pictured when sold by Lullaby Baby out of Brooklyn, NY. As of 5/2022, comes as a flat package instead of a box. Could be a change by Anbex labs as they were having production issues earlier this year. Sealed up and tamper evident. I purchased this not to guard against the “end times” but as a pharmaceutical curiosity to own one of a select few FDA-approved potassium iodide products (I'm weird like that). In a true crisis necessitating use, these tablets are a component of the Strategic National Stockpile, and (one would hope) would be distributed by state and local governments. Buy if you're into prepping, a collector of pharmaceuticals, or have just watched the Chernobyl miniseries
