Best form for absorbtion and a MUST for MTHFT genetic mutation!
So far so good! I have to take this form because I've got an MTHFR genetic anomaly (4 in 10 people do!). This means that I cannot process common cyanocobalamin (artificial long shelf life) version that is crammed into most vitamin packs, energy drinks, etc, even expensive ones. Those taking cyanocobalamin form end up with higer B12 blood readings (think oil on water), deprive your brain of a nutrient lack of which may also lead to pernitious anemia and often misdiagnosed as other maladies even schitzophrenia. Excess of unused B12 is peed out and what remains over years may contribute to front lobe dementia in old age and other issues along the way. If you are one of the 60% who are not - great, but it's worth finding out. Those with one of many forms of this genetic anomaly NEED MORE than just correct form, but in greater amount as well as the other half - FOLATE. Unlike wrong B that floats around, folic acid is absorbed but not used, and blocks Folate form intake from food. That too is a huge issue since it affects thyroid, heart, medications halflife messing with prescribed dose, ability to carry children full term, celiac disease, etc manifesting in different ways. I am convinced that every child born should be tested at birth to avoid future issues over lifetime. (Best place to learn is on mthfr(dot)net . B12's required to combine with FOLATE to set off a key shain reaction in a body's methelation cycle that covers blood garbage removal, seratonin, dopamine and must precede other cycles. (FOLATE is not Folic Acid used as substitution also FDA forces through fortified flour). 156 countries banned import and export of folic acid because long term issues. P.S. Every vegan and vegetarian should take 5mg B12 daily or risk pernicious anemia. If you have not confirmed MTHFR presence via individual blood test or a full panel (ex 23andme), just play safe and nuy this methelated form. PPS - Folate is so important that psychiateists often prescribe DEPLIN for their patients. It is nothing but a 50mg Folate pill. Why do they do it? Because many malasies like de po ression and others are impacted by brain's deprivation of Folate. I take 5mg of each pill daily AND make sire to eat folate rich foods like brown lentils (Palouse brand is the best) not the orange or yellow ones. Also, fenugreek seed (soaked overnight and added to soups, rice, veggie burgers, etc). Like I mentioned -we need more. Beware of drs unfamiliar w/MTHFR and those who use folate and folic acid interchangeably. Cheers!
