My whole I was sleep deprived. Even when the nights were quiet, and I wouldn't have caffeine all day, I would not sleep for more than 4 hours total. I always thought my body just didn't produce enough melatonin naturally.
Since taking these, I have been dreaming more often which means to me that this helps me achieve a deeper state of sleep and/or that this helps me to stay asleep longer to be able to dream. I have been waking up feeling recharged. However, I don't know if this is just me but, I noticed after waking up I sometimes still felt a little sleepy for a few hours. So, to combat this feeling, I now take the pill a few hours before I want to fall asleep by. For example, when I need to wake up at 6:00 am, I take the pill at 8:00pm and make sure I finish up any stuff I need to do before the next day so I can hop into bed and watch tv or play a game. This method has helped me fall asleep by 10:30 or so every night and wake up without the sleepy feeling. Hope this is helpful to someone else
