I bought these drops to supplement vitamin D for my breastfed infant son, based on a doctor's recommendation. After having read a few other reviews, I have some tips to help clarify what you are buying: (1) you are getting 365 drops, so a year's worth of supply in the bottle (2) the dropper works by gravity, you don't shake or squeeze the bottle. Just hold it upside down and wait for a drop to form and fall. This is not something you can aim into your child's mouth directly because it takes too long (maybe about 10 seconds). Add to expressed milk or drop onto nipple just before feeding. (3) this product contains a small amount (1 IU) of vitamin E in addition to D3, but I think it is naturally occurring in the oils that make up the base of the liquid

No more fussy baby!

I EBF and my pediatrician gave us the enfamil d-vi-sol drops. After a day I noticed my baby was super fussy! It was awful, he would cry and fuss for 15min at every feeding before he'd latch because he was gassy or trying to poop. I stopped giving them to him and he got better. No more fuss, I ordered these and it's been a ew days and my baby isn't fussy still. I usually start to feed then when he calms down (he's a very avid drinker!) I put a drop on my nipple and he feeds again. He doesn't even notice it

A more affordable way to get your Vitamin D

I ordered the Carlson Baby's Super Daily D3 drops because I grew tired of paying drug store/grocery store prices for the Vitamin D drops to give my baby. This bottle is a great value. One dosage is one drop. To dispense one drop, just hold the bottle upside down for several seconds â€" gravity will do its magic and a single drop will dispense. I usually just mix it in with some baby food or dispense it straight onto a puffed cereal snack (like Gerber Puffs) and then give it to my baby (I started using this when my baby was about 5 months old â€" when he was able to start eating some real foods). If your baby is not eating other foods yet and exclusively breast feeding, I would recommend vitamin D drops that can be dispensed by a dropper â€" because I doubt a baby would stay still long enough and with his/her mouth open to dispense a drop directly into their mouth. If your baby is using a bottle, you can dispense a drop into their bottle. 400 IU per drop 0.35 fl oz â€" 365 drops Other ingredients: Medium chain triglyceride oil (coconut and palm source) Gluten free Preservative free Soy free Distributed by Carlson Division of J.R. Easy to use

I use these vitamin d drops for my baby which the doctor recommended since my baby is under 1. We have tried the droppers before which my baby didn't like because she would have to drink so much. With this, the babies have to drink less since it's literally one drop. I usually drop it on my nipple during breast feeding and that seems to work well. My only complaint is that since it works by gravity, the less solution in the bottle the harder it is to come out. This becomes challenging with an impatient squirming infant. Otherwise, no other complaint

So far, so good!

So, this will probably sound weird to some, but I use these for myself. I am a 27 year old female, and I am low in vitamin D, like most people. Whenever I took it in the past, I would develop heat flashes and rapid heart rate- with all different brands, so of course, that turned me off of taking it at all. I saw my doctor recently, and she told me that they have drops, so after my appointment, I bought these. That was a month ago. With this, the dose is low enough, that I don't have the problems I was having. Hopefully I can build up my tolerance to it this way so that I can eventually begin taking higher doses

Easy to use!

This is a great product. I used it for a year with my first and just bought it again for my second child. It's a small volume so you don't have to worry about spilling. Just one drop does the job! You can put the drop on yourself just before nursing, and it's odorless so there is no resisting it. And it's colorless so if you are doing this in the dark and accidentally drop it on your clothes, it doesn't cause a nasty stain. You do have the bottle upside down for almost 10 seconds for a drop to come out, but the advantage here is that if you knocked the bottle over, it won't cause a big spill

AMAZING!

I am a new mom to a 7 week old and also a pharmacist. Imagine my dual excitement when I saw a product such as this existed! My baby would not finish bottles of breast milk when I added the 1 mL of medicinal-smelling D Vi Sol typically recommended. This product is a drop - literally a DROP - to get the same daily dose of 400 units of Vitamin D that breast fed babies require. It has no odor and baby doesn't even know it's in there! The bottle comes with 365 drops, so an entire year supply! How fantastic is that!? As a pharmacist, I spend all day at work showing new moms at work the D Vi Sol. You bet that I am going to special order this and have it on the ready for them to make their lives easier, too! I will be a superstar

Pro: only vitamin D, no additives. Con: causes extreme gas discomfort and constipation.

This is a very difficult product to review and I was reluctant to give it two stars. I choose this product over the D-Vi-Sol recommended by our baby's pediatrician because it contains less additives than the D-Vi-Sol. D-Vi-Sol contains artificial colors and flavors which I believe to be unnecessary for my baby's diet, especially since only one drop a day is administered at feeding time. Con: The dropper plug makes it difficult to administer one drop at a time. It takes a long time to coax a drop from the bottle and when the liquid does come out it is difficult to place the drop as it comes out rapidly, followed by several more drops. Super Con: This goes more towards vitamin D supplementation in general. Vitamin D can, in some cases, cause babies (and adults) to become very gassy and constipated. We administered the supplement one drop, once a day. This caused our baby to have an extreme amount of gas discomfort and slight constipation. The gas pains were so bad for the little guy we believed we had the dreaded "colicy baby". After a week of screaming and sleepless nights we discontinued the supplement causing the gas pains to decrease significantly after twenty four hours. Vitamin D is an important vitamin in your babies diet that should be supplemented because babies don't (and shouldn't) be exposed to extended periods of sun light. They do get some D from mother's milk or formula. I would use this product (with the addition of a bulb dropper) if it did not cause the gas issues

Vitamin D is so important for health!

Actually a hormone, Vitamin D is crucial to thousands of your body's processes. These days we sit inside and put on hats and sunscreen when we go out; many people have sub-optimal levels. Every time your doctor recommends a blood test, ask if they can add Vitamin D levels to it... you should have at least "30," with "40-60" being optimal. One to two drops in my kids' milk daily goes a long way towards making up that deficit

Cannot say enough about it!

I am so thankful that I did some research and found this product. One of our children was diagnosed as being very Vit D deficient, which surprised us. Our pediatrician gave orders for a 6 week regimen using the Enfamil D-Vi-Sol drops. When I brought them home, I was horrified to see that I had to give her 5 whole dropper fulls a day of that stuff. Plus, it tasted nasty!!!! First we tried it full strength in some juice. That went bad, so we kept trying to reduce the amount of Enfamil until she was so familiar with the nasty taste she could taste it in anything and would spit it out. I started panicking about how we would get her to take the supplement. After finding Carlson Labs Vit D and using for 3 weeks now, I am taking it to my pediatrician and recommending he start pushing it instead of the other crap. Some people have expressed concern over the measuring of the drop. It was fairly easy for me after I read the instructions. Just tip over and wait. The perfect measurement will drip out. I have found that if its cool, the oil can take a long time to drip. I warm it by putting it in between my palms and rubbing back and forth. It stirs the liquid and warms it making it easier to come out. You won't be disappointed!
