Followup: Still love this product
Using this product for over a year now. As an endurance athlete (long course triathlon, marathons and long course cycling) I have been a long time Gu user and still think they make an excellent product (especially the peanut butter which has 1 gram of protein unlike the others), but found myself getting burned out on the texture/taste. A fellow cyclist introduced my to Huma and I found it a welcome change. The PLUS (added electrolytes) "sealed the deal" for me. One of my problems on marathon and half marathon courses was the "unknown" as to fluids with electrolytes at the rest stops (ranging from Gatorade, Powerade, Nuun all mixed to different strengths). After studying the electrolyte contents of Huma PLUS and trial runs on the treadmill I found I could do fine with water alone and one Huma PLUS every 45-50 minutes or so. This dramatically simplified my nutrition/hydration equation and played a significant role in staying "balanced" on my first sub 4 hour marathon this past December. The packets are slightly larger than Gu's due to increased fluid content (texture similar to thin applesauce) which eases consumption and makes chasing immediately with water NOT necessary. The PLUS does have a slightly saltier taste, but not unpleasant/unbearable. I have also tried the Blueberry & Banana which tastes similar. As an added bonus the contents are "cleaner" than most on the market and designed by one of our military veterans. A great product that comes with my highest recommendation. UPDATE: I'm not a "sponsored athlete" (although I would happily be one for Humma...hint hint, haha!) After multiple orders this remains my "go to" fuel for any competitive or weight/space constrained athletic activity (triathlon, running, cycling, hiking) and the orders are promptly and correctly filled every time. Only suggestion I can come up with is to consider expanding your line to include "chewable" fuel like some of the other companies (ie chews/gummies, bars) Thanks guys
