Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20

I am hooked!!

i read some of the reviews before buying this and was slightly hesitant. Multiple magazines had suggested this product (Uncrate.com, Men's Health), so I trusted their insight and hoped they had not been "bribed" to advertise this product. I am hooked for life. I am 23 years old and my father passed away of Melanoma at a young age, I bike to school and live in a very sunny, hot city and state. While the price is a little expensive, I can not put a price on my life and this preventive step is a lot cheaper than getting skin cancer. Additionally, I have always battled with a slight acne problem. It wasn't enough to need extreme medicines or treatment, but it was annoying to not have it cleared away. I have used proactive (effective, but expensive) for a some time now. As I started using this product, I have also switched to just using only Dove soap to wash my face. My face looks healthier and clearer than ever. It also only takes a tiny amount to rub all over face, so the price does not end up being that much. I don't know what the issue is with the smell some people speak of. I have NEVER smelt anything wrong with mine, and I am very self-conscious about this. Additionally, other lotions and sunscreen for the face can be EXTREMELY pungent, so even if I did smell something it would be alright

Works as advertised for me

I've read negative reviews about causing breakouts and smelling bad . I've not experienced any if these issues after using it for almost a year. I work outside quite a bit and I can tell the SPF works great and to me there is very little to no smell. I'm sure we all differ in our olfactor senses, but for me this an excellent product I use daily on my face, neck and ears and the benefits are positive. I just wish it were available in a larger bottle

Great lotion. Crummy Pump.

The title says it all--great lotion, but a crummy pump on the container. This is now my third purchase of this item and the only major issue I have is with the pump system--it is, quite simply, awkward and poorly designed. One stroke doesn't pump out enough lotion, so I have to pump it 8, 9, 10 times or more just to get a useful amount (about a teaspoon perhaps). And the force of the pump is often not enough to prevent dripping onto the side of the bottle. I suggest buying an empty pump bottle and transferring the contents. Or discard the pump, find a cap, and just pour it out instead. Then, another problem I've encountered, when you're about 2/3 down, the pump stops working and you're forced to open the bottle and shake the contents out. You'd think such a high-end and expensive product would have a better delivery system. Nonetheless, despite these technical design flaws, the lotion itself is simply great. By far, the best overall full body lotion I've ever used. It's a wonderful combination of a moisturizing skin cream with a broad spectrum sunblock. One of its best features is that it's very light and non-greasy. I've even used it in my hair as a sort of styling gel. Moreover, the scent is subtle and not over-powering. Plus, the 20 SPF is perfect--even in the California sun--blocking 95% of harmful UV rays. I've used it for a four-hour round of golf on a sunny day and it fully protected me (admittedly, I was using a cart and wore a hat--but still, it was all the sunblock I needed to keep from getting burned on my face, arms, and legs). Even when it's not sunny, I continue to use it everyday as a general use skin lotion--once I can get it out of the bottle, that is..

Surprisingly effective, and not the worst value for money, either.

I've been using Jack Black double-duty moisturizer for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say, I'm very pleased with the results. If you go from not really moisturizing your face at all, the difference is truly palpable. My skin is definitely softer, and looks somewhat clearer. I've had no increase in breakouts, and it seems to reduce the amount of razor burn I get from shaving as well. Compared to the crappy Neutrogena aftershave lotion I've sometimes used, this is much better. It will not leave your face at all greasy (and I have pretty oily skin to start with). As far as the smell, yes, it does smell a bit like plastic and baby powder, but this goes away after about 10 minutes. Any cologne you wear over it will probably cover this smell anyways. You're probably thinking: "$23 for 3.3oz? Come on, guys, I know this stuff isn't made from ingredients THAT exotic." However, I'll probably buy another bottle when this one runs out - it's that good. In terms of value, a 3.3oz could easily last 3-4 months depending on how often and how much you use (I use 3 pumps every day - the pumps are VERY small). With that in mind, it's not terrible value for money, but you're still forking out about 25 bucks for a bottle of face lotion in the first place. I'd still say it's worth it

Felt over rated

I bought this in conjunction with the Deep Dive Glycolic Face Cleanser and the Intense Therapy Lip Balm and felt all three products were over rated. They arent bad products, but I dont think they deserve almost 5 stars. This in particular was what I was really looking for and was a little disappointed. I have sensitive skin and when I put it on, it stings a little on my cheeks. What I do like: it absorbs very nicely, almost too much. Maybe its just because its winter and my skin is dryer than usual, but it takes a minute for your skin to fully absorb the lotion, but once it does, its like I need to put more on. Edit 12/16: I ended up requesting a return on this item. I broke out in a bright red rash on my face and pretty sure it was from this product. Not sure why, but I was apparently allergic to something in it

I'm a newbie but I love it

I'm no expert on facial sunscreens. As a matter of fact, I just became aware of their vital importance. I also did a significant amount of reading and research on great forums like Basenotes Men's Grooming, etc.. I like this because it feels good on my skin. It tightens and also provides some moisturizing. It rubs in and doesn't leave the white coat. Other than that tho, I'm not sure how to judge other than maybe long-term use? What I know is that it feels good on my skin and makes my face look good, and also seems to have good SPF protection, though at a light level. I'm looking for a 35 or 50 SPF for times when I'm going to be in intense sun for an extended period

great moisturizer with SPF 20 for men

Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20 I have a very sensitive skin so finding the right product is a must! I have been using this SPF 20 moisturizer for the months and I pretty much love it. I have no breakouts and its not oily at all. I am the type that hate putting anything on my face but I don't mind this moisturizer. It smell pretty good as well. My wife also use it sometimes and she really likes it. If you are looking for a nice moisturizer and it doesn't smell like a girl, I would highly recommend this product

I have never been an avid lotion user but I am a huge fan of this face moisturizer. I began looking for a good facial moisturizer a few years ago and someone recommended this moisturizer to me. I checked it out on Amazon and it received great reviews, but I was a bit hesitant at first because it is pretty pricey for a facial moisturizer. I'm glad I decided to buy it in the end. I grew up in a dry climate and I am not a fan of the greasy, damp feeling most lotions leave on my skin. This lotion has a much more fluid texture so it absorbs quickly and it doesn't leave that slimy feeling afterwards. I guess the term is a "light moisturizer" but I feel like that carries a negative connotation. There are other "light" lotions out there, but they have simply been watered down. This lotion, however, feels like a high quality moisturizer, not a watered down lotion. I never imagined myself being the kind of person who would say this but I love how soft and healthy my skin feels after I put it on. I have VERY sensitive skin, and this is definitely the best lotion I've ever used. It doesn't make my skin break out at all, which is amazing. The moisturizer is completely unscented and SPF 20 (though I sort of doubt that). I have used this in the sun here quite a bit and I do burn less than I do without the moisturizer, but I'm not sure it is quite SPF 20. Then again, I'm not a sunscreen connoisseur so I could be wrong. The bottle does say to reapply every 2 hours if being used in the sun. I have the big bottle and a couple small bottles that I travel with. The small bottles are 3.3 oz so they are small enough to be taken through TSA, and the big bottle is 8.5 oz. The last 8.5 oz bottle lasted me almost a year. The only 2 active ingredients listed on the bottle are Avobenzone and Octinoxate (sunscreen components). The bottle says that they use only certified organic ingredients, which may be a plus for some people. The lotion is a bit pricey but a little goes a LONG way. Since the last bottle of this stuff lasted me almost a year, I'd say it's worth the investment. The lotion is high quality, absorbs quickly, is unscented and sun protective so it is a win for me. It was a great buy, and I would highly recommend it

For the money, not my choice

I wanted to love this. I want to love it since it cost so much and for the brand name. The truth is, I end up using more lotion on my face than I have with other brands. I don't feel oily with it, but you can tell it's there. For my skin type (dry) it does fine for moisturizing and the smell is not noticeable. It dees have broad spectrum SPF 20, which is good. Nothing wrong with the product, but probably going to look at the Kyoku brand or someone else. For $27 I want to love my facial moisturizer, and this is not love. Not even lust. Not even puppy love. More like a mild interest if there were no other options on a deserted island. Get the picture

Very good option for daily skin protection

Only been a couple days but already very pleased with this moisturizer. Beyond providing good moisturizing, this product met or exceeded my expectations by not only being fragrance-free, but virtually smell-free once applied. If does have the slightest essence of sunscreen if you sniff it directly, but once on my face there were no chemical emanations that other products I've used seem to have that would suddenly and unexpectedly make my eyes sting. Another key is that it absorbs almost immediately and leaves you no more oily than if you used no lotion-type product. For a daily moisturizer with a moderate sunscreen, it's very good and probably unreasonable to expect more. One thing I will say is that it took quite a few pumps to get it primed and working. Almost thought the pump was not going to work. I do wish there was a full cap, which would be better for travel, rather than just the loose-fitting partial cap (see photo), which seems more for transportation and sanitation (and probably intended to be discarded.) I was hesitant to spend this much but since the cheaper options were not up to snuff, I figured it was time to try something that it supposed to be better. Hopefully this will last awhile and remain shelf stable throughout so it will be economical in the end
