I was having side effects to losartan potassium and metoprolol combo so I decided to get off all medications for a while and figure out why my blood pressure was high. I know, my doctor would not like this. But he treats symptoms and not causes.
So I bought the best reviewed blood pressure monitor I could find and my experiments began. Been doing this a couple of weeks now, have had readings as high as 170/105 and have been experiencing a general feeling of anxiety with sleep problems.
This was the first blood pressure supplement I tried. It seemed to lower it by 10 points maybe with some side effects of sweating profusely and waking up covered in sweat when its cold and 67 in the house. I was really getting freaked out trying to understand it all, read articles that kidney problems can lead to high blood pressure so I was all freaked out that my kidneys were failing.
I have a mild allergy to nightshade plants and I remembered a trick I had heard off a facebook group that cream of tartar (Potassium Tartrate) would counter the affects. I had tried this in the past (before I got the BP monitor) and got a nice relaxing feeling from it. So I mixed a teaspon of Cream of Tartar into a glass of crystal light lemonade and you know what? Within 1 hour I had normal blood pressure!
So I'm not knocking this supplement at all, but if you find it doesn't work then make sure that you are getting enough Potassium and Magnesium. No pill (that does not contain those nutrients) is going to fix your blood pressure if you have a severe mineral deficiency. And the thing is, I eat lots of salads and bananas but I think I have some sort of absorbtion problem or just a higher than normal requirement.
An easy test (make sure you have a BP monitor) is to take about a 1/2 dose of milk of magnesia early in the day. Monitor your pressure a couple hours later and see if it relaxes you. If that doesn't work, give the cream of tartar a try. If you find these things lower it, consider getting a high quality magnesium/potassium supplement. Just be careful, most potassium supplements I have looked at have like 2% of the RDA which is pathetic and useless.
I don't feel like posting photos of my BP numbers, but I just checked and it was 134/88 which is very good for me. A day ago it was averaging 158/100 or so.
I have been taking this supplement every day, so perhaps its a factor. I need a little more time to figure that out, probably not going to post an update cause I am busy. But this is simple to try, don't let your doctor prescribe you drugs for a mineral deficiency, that's just stupid
