I switched to NOW brand from Nature's Plus Extended Release in an attempt to save money. I've always considered NOW brand to be a decent one, but now I'm not so sure. I started using red yeast rice after my blood work showed high cholesterol and triglycerides last year in an attempt to avoid being on another prescription medication. After using the Nature's Plus brand for 6 months there was a marked decrease in the levels of both. I maintained the usage of that brand for a while but decided to see if I could save some money. Having used other NOW supplements in the past I decided to try their RYR product. Unfortunately, I was surprised to see that my cholesterol and triglyceride levels had risen sharply when my 6 month follow up rolled around. I recently subscribed to an online "Lab for Consumers" that tests supplements while researching another supplement and happened to review their tests of RYR products. As you can see below, the NOW product did not fare well against my original choice, as well as some of the other brands (won't post those in respect to the copyright owner.) I did not expect NOW brand to fail so miserably.
