I've been taking this 5-HTP supplement for over 2 years now. I went through a really stressful patch in grad school, but I didn't have insurance to go see a therapist (and I didn't really want to get on prescription anxiety/depression meds). After a little research, I found this. I take it daily as part of my morning routine. My experience is that it helps me not worry as much. Before, my anxiety would make it hard for me to function day to day. After taking it for about 2 weeks, it gets regulated in your body, and "takes the edge off" of anxiety and worry. This is by no means a substitute for prescriptions if you have clinical depression, but if you are looking for alternatives for mild to moderate anxiety and depression, it may be worth a shot. These gave me crazy vivid dreams, didn't realize until I stopped taking them and the dreams went back to normal

More Positive and Productive

My daughter and I both take this product. I learned about 5htp from Dr Amen who does brain scans and talks about the importance of nutrition for brain health. We were both taking "Mood Positive" by Natrol and switched to this due to price. It calms my daughter who takes it as needed in stressful situations. I take it daily and I just feel more positive and productive. I have tried just 5htp by other companies and had no results. Natrol for some reason really works for us. Dr Amen recommends everyone take a good multi, Omega 3-6-9 and extra D3. Then certain brain types need specific supplements such as SAME or 5htp. I have shared this product with others and they have had the same amazing results. Excellent product for helping you obtain a more positive outlook on life

Tried it, better than gaba

Purchased this at Costco yesterday and been taking one every night. I have to say it really makes me more sleepier and I sleep better without tossing and turning as I usually do. It says to take twice a day but I'm concerned I'll get too drowsy if I take it in the morning. Will update again in 2 weeks

Didn't get the right product twice!

Product is not what is prictured or described; it is basic 5-htp; I returned first order from this mess up and received the same wrong product again; so decided to try anyways; made my cycle start back and didn't work like other basic 5-htp products I have tried; didn't want the product I was delivered but tried it anyways. And it didn't work very well. Very disappointed. Two stars are literally only because they â€˜triedâ€

Works for me

I'll preface my review by saying that the human body although a machine is different for every person. I swear by this, my mom whom I recommended this too "didn't like the way it made her feel" - her words. I take it day or night. I have been moody the last year, tend to get stressed easily and lose focus when I do get stressed. I found this totally by accident when I stumbled upon dozens of samples discarded by a store. Took them and could not believe what happened at first without notice. The effects are very subtle, it took me days of taking it before I even realized that it was actually working. I am calmer within 30 minutes after taking 2 pills. When I can't fall asleep, I believe, it calms my mind enough to help me fall asleep. What I like about it: 1. The pills are small and easy to swallow. 2. I can take it day or night. 3. It does NOT make me sleepy. 4. It does what it says, it promotes calm. I took another brand's 5HTP without the " " ingredients and it did not work at all, not even a little. This to me has almost the same effect as an anti-anxiety medication I previously took. I usually do not need to take a dose more than once a day. I have taken up to 6 pills a day, spaced 4 to 6 hours without any side effects. I don't recommend having to depend on a supplement that much. If you find yourself having to take this more than once per day a few days a week, see a doctor

Shocked at how well these work!

I don't want to write a novel so I'll just say in a nutshell.. my daughter who is a young adult has suffered with anxiety, anger, and depression for close to 10 years. She's tried multiple medications but never continues them because says they stop working or don't work well enough. One day after a terrible anxiety attack I asked her to try some 5HTP thats I had at the house already for my son who also has periods of depression. In desperation she said she would try and after 3 days said she noticed a difference! There were only 7 left in the bottle and she asked me to order more which is a miracle in itself because she just never cares to give anything much of a chance anymore because of past experiences. These made such an impression on her she wanted more. It's been about 2 months now and she is still taking them religiously and seeing huge improvement. I haven't been getting the tear filled phone calls, we haven't been arguing, and she is overall just happy with little to no anxiety, more energy, better sleep etc. I decided to try them myself. I wasn't depressed that I know of but I am 52 and have had no desire to do the things I normally would. Just no energy to work on the yard, the house or any care about them not getting done. Figured it was age or maybe menopause related and thought it was just normal. After a week of taking these I have cleaned my house top to bottom every drawer and closet, baseboards, started project of painting outside gates, worked on yard etc etc. I can not believe the difference! Before I was lucky to get the laundry done and leave it unfolded in a heap. HUGE difference... I have my life back! In short I have also recommended these to a friend who said she was crying every day and just overwhelmed with life and had taken a week off work for mental health. Within a week she was thanking me profusely and had been so excited at all of the long overdo cleaning and projects she was getting done. All I can say is We will all continue taking this and the results have been nothing short of miraculous. Excellent product! We're using the time release 100mg ( in case there are other options in the listing) and my daughter increased hers to twice a day. Im only taking one per day and not sure what dose friend is taking. Sorry I ended up writing a novel after all
