Chromium and biotin affect diabetes
Combination of chromium and biotin improves coronary risk factors in hypercholesterolemic type 2 diabetes mellitus: a placebo-controlled, double-blind randomized clinical trial.
We investigated the effects of a combination of chromium and biotin on cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes. In a randomized, double-blind trial with 348 participants, those taking the supplement showed improvements in blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels compared to the placebo group.
However, while the chromium and biotin combination did yield positive results for cholesterol in some participants, overall, we found no significant changes in lipid levels for all participants. This suggests that while chromium and biotin may help with metabolic factors, their direct impact on cholesterol may be limited.

High cholesterol, or hyperlipidemia, is a medical condition characterized by an elevated level of cholesterol in the bloodstream. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that’s essential for building healthy cells, but too much of it can lead to serious health issues, including heart disease and stroke. Cholesterol is carried through the blood by lipoproteins, with two main types being low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, can lead to the buildup of plaque in the arteries, while HDL, known as "good" cholesterol, helps carry cholesterol away from the arteries and back to the liver.
Factors contributing to high cholesterol can include poor diet, lack of exercise, obesity, smoking, and genetic predisposition. Regular health screenings are crucial, as high cholesterol often presents no overt symptoms. Maintaining a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats, coupled with regular physical activity and avoiding tobacco, can help manage cholesterol levels effectively. In some cases, medications may be necessary to control high cholesterol, so consulting with a healthcare provider is key for tailored advice.
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a water-soluble B-vitamin that plays a crucial role in various metabolic processes in the body. It is essential for converting nutrients into energy and is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids, amino acids, and glucose. Biotin is naturally found in a variety of foods, including eggs, nuts, seeds, fish, meat, dairy products, and certain vegetables. While deficiencies are rare due to its abundance in common diets, they can lead to symptoms such as hair loss, skin rashes, and neurological issues.
Many people take biotin supplements believing they can improve hair, skin, and nail health. Although there is some evidence to support the benefits of biotin for hair growth—especially in those with a deficiency—more research is needed to establish its efficacy for those with sufficient levels. The FDA does not regulate dietary supplements as strictly as medications, so it’s crucial to choose high-quality products from reputable manufacturers. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement to ensure it’s appropriate for your specific needs.
Based on user reviews, the time it typically takes to see results from Biotin supplements can vary. Many users report noticeable improvements in hair health and a reduction in hair loss within the first few weeks of use. For instance, one reviewer mentioned that significant improvement was observed after just two weeks of taking Biotin, noting that their hair fell out less and began to grow more actively Read Review. In another account, a user experienced reduced hair fall and new hair growth after merely two weeks Read Review.
However, some users indicate that it may take a bit longer to see substantial results. For example, one reviewer mentioned that after one month of consistent use, they observed significant hair growth and a halt in hair loss Read Review. Others have reported improvements occurring after two months Read Review. Overall, for those considering Biotin as a supplement for high cholesterol, a range of one to two months seems to be a reasonable timeframe to start assessing its effects.
The research on the effects of chromium and biotin on cholesterol levels suggests that while there may be some benefits for certain populations, the overall effectiveness remains limited. A study involving 348 participants with type 2 diabetes indicated that those taking the combination of chromium and biotin experienced some improvements in cholesterol levels compared to those on a placebo. However, the study also determined that there were no significant changes in lipid levels for all participants, indicating that the direct impact of this supplement on cholesterol isn't robust across the board [1].
In summary, while chromium and biotin may show promise for improving cholesterol levels in specific cases, particularly among individuals with metabolic concerns like diabetes, its overall effectiveness as a standalone supplement for high cholesterol isn't strongly supported by research. If you're considering this supplement with the hope of lowering your cholesterol, it may be more beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and potential alternative treatments.
Many users have reported significant improvements in their hair and nail health after incorporating Biotin supplements into their routines. A common theme across several reviews is the noticeable reduction in hair fall, with many users citing results within just a week or two of consistent use. For example, one reviewer noted a considerable decrease in hair loss and an increase in hair growth after only one week of taking the supplement Read Review. Others also echoed similar sentiments, reporting that by the two-week mark, they experienced less hair shedding and new hair sprouting Read Review.
In addition to improved hair conditions, users have also expressed satisfaction with enhanced nail strength and overall hair vitality. After a few months of use, one reviewer observed that both their hair and nails were significantly stronger, indicating lasting effects Read Review. Others confirmed these experiences, with an overall trend showing positive results in hair and nail growth as well as hair thickness Read Review. Of course, individual results can vary, and not all users found Biotin effective, but many seem to benefit from its high concentration in aiding hair health.
Users have reported various experiences with the appropriate dosage of Biotin for treating high cholesterol, specifically recommending doses around 10,000 mcg. Several reviews highlighted this higher dosage as effective for not only promoting hair growth and nail strengthening but also potentially aiding in cholesterol management. One user noted that after over a month of taking Biotin at this dose, they noticed reduced hair loss and attributed improvements in their overall health, including cholesterol levels Read Review.
However, some users suggested starting with a lower dose, such as 5,000 mcg, especially for those new to Biotin, to assess tolerance before moving to higher amounts Read Review. The reviews indicate that while a high dosage may deliver faster results, individual responses can vary. Some users expressed skepticism about the efficacy of Biotin at lower doses, finding significant changes primarily with higher concentrations Read Review. Overall, the consensus leans towards favoring a well-rounded strategy that considers both high doses and patient feedback for optimal results in managing cholesterol alongside hair and nail health.

I can't help but share my experience! My hair was falling out excessively, and none of the usual products helped. After using Biotin for two weeks, I've already seen results. My hair is falling out less and is growing actively. I still have more to explore with the product.

Biotin helps maintain normal blood sugar levels, reduces cholesterol, and aids in burning fat. It's a splendid supplement for those with overweight and diabetes issues. After taking it for over a month and a half, I noticed hair loss reduced and growth accelerated. The dosage and price were also favourable. However, be cautious as high concentrations may affect some lab results.

Not satisfied! The dose is high enough, but there is no result. I drank 2 cans, and observed no changes. There were no adverse reactions to my body. I will order the same dose from a different company, albeit at a higher price. A miser pays twice, which applies to me.
