Vitamin B2 may prevent migrainesNutraceuticals and Headache 2024: Riboflavin, Coenzyme Q10, Feverfew, Magnesium, Melatonin, and Butterbur.
Direct focus on vitamin B2
We explored how vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, can help in the prevention of headaches, particularly migraines. Research shows that it is safe for adults and can be beneficial in reducing the frequency of migraine attacks. However, the effects of riboflavin in children are not well established yet.
The study highlights that adverse events related to riboflavin consumption are minimal, making it a generally safe option for adults looking for natural preventative measures against headaches. While vitamin B2 may not be a guaranteed cure-all, it offers an appealing option for those seeking alternative treatments for migraines.
Overall, the evidence points toward vitamin B2 being a helpful supplement for migraine prevention in adults, but we need more research to fully understand its effectiveness, especially in younger populations.

We explored a case of a 10-year-old girl who exhibited unusual symptoms during her migraine episodes, including eyebrow bleeding and red spots on her forehead. Despite typical neurological examinations and imaging returning normal results, she suffered from severe recurring headaches.
In addressing her migraine symptoms, the treatment plan we implemented included Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin B2, and Cyproheptadine. Although our intervention incorporated Vitamin B2, it was challenging to isolate the specific impact of this vitamin on her headache relief, as it was used alongside other treatments. However, we observed a significant improvement in both the frequency and intensity of her headaches following the treatment regimen.
This case suggests that while Vitamin B2 may play a role in managing migraines, its effectiveness should be viewed within the context of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes multiple interventions. Moreover, the case highlights the importance of recognizing atypical symptoms in migraine patients, which can sometimes lead to better management strategies.
