I think any one that uses anything else is just wasting their money. I used to (!) have severe breakouts of cold sores and they were painful and nasty. I put this on at the first tingle and indication, and for me, this stops the virus before forming into nasty blisters. I have never (!) had a bad break out since I started using this product. This stuff was a GODSEND for me. I order it now when I run out of it, and I consider it a must have in my medicine cabinet. I might be wrong about the science here, but I don't seem to get them as much anymore since I started using the product. I'm actually afraid to be without it, because i remember the bad old days... Buying it on amazon has cut my retail cost in half. This vendor has my 5 star rating for price, because it's half of what every retailer wants on the street. I would buy it no matter the cost, because the pain and embarrassment of the problem, in my life, was worth the $25 for one 1 ounce tube. Words cannot describe how happy I was when i saw this 2 fer for half the cost of one tube retail. If most are like me,the other companies would go out of business because there is only one reliable and consistent cure for warding off the problem of cold sore break outs and this is it. I can only say again that this is a miracle preventative, not pain reliever , not cover up. For me, it stops the development dead in its first physical manifestation. I will never be without it... Fellow sufferers know what I mean and I hope to have encouraged others to try this product. For me, it has been the HOLY GRAIL of defense and offense against an extremely hated physical malady. Give it a whirl y'all. You'll be happy you did! CT OUT

I used Abreva years ago and hated it and never used it again until a few days ago. I had one cold sore on my bottom lip that didn't really become noticeable, but it then spread to 3!!! on my top lip. What I usually do was not working, i noticed them all getting bigger. On impulse I decided to try abreva even though the cold sore already formed. I figured it would at least shorten the time. I'm now mad at myself for not trying abreva again sooner!! My cold sores did not get bigger at all. The swelling went down by the next day, and it got rid of some of the blisters! My cold sore never even got to the weeping stage, instead the blisters just slowly shrank and shrank until completely gone now!! The cold sores were not very noticeable throughout all of this. And no scabbing either!!! I'm so happy. I have suffered from cold sores since I was little. I have never had my cold sores go away so quickly and quietly! Definitely always staying stocked up on Abreva now

Keep On Hand

Keep these handy. They really, really work well if you can catch the cold sore in it's "prodromal" stage, as in: The patient's first sign is the prodromal stage, experienced by 46% to 60% of patients. This stage consists of tingling, itching, inflammation, erythema, hypersensitivity, and/or soreness in the exact location where the lesion will erupt. If you can slather on some of the Abreva during this stage you'll dramatically diminish the severity of the outbreak

Depends of the outbreak and other variables

It's an expensive product, no doubt. And it's ability to slow and halt progression of a cold sore can vary by outbreak to outbreak. I've had occurences in which it does prevent the blisters from breaking through and other times it really does a minimal job of stopping its progress. Since I know my triggers (stress, poor sleep, poor diet, menstrual cycle) I've gotten in the habit of applying along my reoccurrence sites preventively at night before bed. Since trying this I've noticed that when an outbreak does occur, more often than not, they have been smaller, less aggressive, and generally more mild, healing within 3-5 days and sometimes not breaking thru the skin. Also IMO combining Abreva with other interventions such as L-Lysine, antivirals, applying 91% rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, essential peppermint oil, lemon balm oil, compeed patches, etc, can lessen duration and pain of outbreaks. In the end each individual has to find a combination that works for their body

Got cold sore(s)? This is a must for anyone who ever gets those dang cold sores. I don't get it often but when I do, this is my absolute must have, go-to treatment! At the slightest lip tingling sensation or lip swelling you start to feel, use this. Majority of the time, if I can use this treatment early enough, I can avoid having a cold sore all together. Otherwise, using this cold sore will tremendously decrease the length of your healing time by about half. No joke, any person who gets cold sores should legit get some always on hand. It's expensive but a tiny little goes a very long ways! Very highly recommended

Literally magic

I've been suffering from cold sores since I was in sixth grade and growing up, they would always be very embarrassing when one would flare up. I used Blistex products in the past and they have never helped. I always prayed for some sort of product to come out that would stop cold sores dead in their tracks - and I have found it finally! Abreva is literally a little miracle in a tube. As soon as I would feel a cold sore coming, I will apply some on the area and the pain and itching will stop almost immediately. It even helps cold sores that had already developed to stop getting worse and switch right to the healing process. To those who had only used it once and was unhappy with the outcome; just remember, you NEED to be consistent. A little goes a long way as well. To those who have never used it and are in my same situation, TRY IT. It may be expensive and the tubes might be very small and it might not look worth the money, but please trust me. This product is excellent and I no longer have to worry about being afraid to show my face in public when I have a cold sore because I have already found my solution and could not be happier

It really worked for me!

The first time I had cold sore was when I was 12 years old. They didn't came back until I was 14 , every 2 years or so I get sick. I noticed an open wound on my lip, within 2 days I had blisters around it. I was scared, due to covid Walgreens and CVS we're closed. So I took a look here on amazon. I read the reviews. This worked for some it didn't work for others. I bought the 2 pack, which is super small I thought the product was bigger. However, from the first time I started using it there was big improvement. Within 3 days my cold sore was gone. I did read that you have to use it within the first symptom. Which I was surprised because it worked for me sooner than I was expecting. I would recommend this to everyone who suffers from cold sores. Try it, maybe it's for you maybe it's not. I already bought another pack, for the future

Started applying the second I noticed the cold sore on day 1, by day 3 already scabbed and blisters completely dry . Attached is a picture of day 1 to day 5. I applied it at least 4- 5x day, once it dried and changed any color I wiped it off and applied a new laye

This saved my life

I have never in my life got a cold sore and I'm 28 years old.. so I was in denial about what it was for a bout 6 days before I went to the doctor. They prescribed me one days worth of Valtrex and another ointment. Literally did nothing. (Again it was already almost a week..) so I did some research and found abreva and wow it worked great for me. It still has taken a long time to go away however this took the itching and burning feeling away and helped it heal much better. It's smaller than I thought but you get two and a little goes a long way. I still have some left in the first tube and I've been putting it on 3-4 times a day for a few days now. I wish I would of had this sooner

Hands down best treatment for cold sores!

This is your go to product to defeat a cold sore quickly! Use it as soon as you feel the tingling sensation on your lips telling you you're about to have a break out. If you do this fast enough the whole episode can be over within a few short days. Always keep some on hand so that you can act quickly, especially when you plan to be exposed to sun, cold or stressful situations which tend to aggravate flare ups. I have tried the pump version but this version in the tube is better. It is a thicker consistency and easier to control the amount that is dispensed and used. It is a pricey product too, so you don't want to waste any. I highly recommend buying this 2 pack deal because on retail stores you are going to pay this much or more for one tube! This is a great product at a great price! I've tried other products but nothing is effective like this. It's worth paying a little more to get back to normal fast and to not have embarrassing sores on your mouth any longer than necessary! *Bonus tip: Apply ice compress to the area at the start of the breakout and this will help suppress it too
