Recipe changed, these are horrible

If you read any good reviews dated before 2019, that was before they changed these. These are horrible! The whole line is. We bought these protein plus noodles for years and loved them. They changed the recipe so that it's all plant-based. Noodles are mushy and have a horrible texture, no matter how you cook them. The spaghetti noodles get little round balls on them when you cook them because the noodle basically starts to disintegrate. Their old recipe was fantastic and tasted and looked the most like regular noodles. I've begged Barilla to bring their old recipe back. Don't get why they can't keep the old recipe and provide the plant based one that everyone supposedly wants. Bottom line- I won't ever buy again. They're disgusting

Not the one Pictured – this is “New and Improved” – HA

Barilla changed the protein plus pasta, that is why I ordered it here, hoping I would get the original Protein Plus. I did not. The new Protein plus Pasta is gummy and tasteless. The original Protein Plus was awesome. They took out the egg white is what I notice on the ingredient list. Unfortunately I will have to find a new pasta. So if anyone knows where there is a warehouse of the old Protein Plus, please let me know

“New and improved,” like COVID-19 is “new normal”

Wow!! What a true travesty: Barilla took something awesome (great tasting pasta with 17g of high-quality protein per serving) and turned it into something subpar (cardboard-tasting vegan-vomit with 11g of low-quality protein per serving). Presumably, Barilla could care less about this review (or the satisfaction of its consumers) as long as they're squeezing out more profits. Hence, I'm cutting ties with this company and product (after being a devout customer for years) and and cancelling my automatic subscription of this travesty of product (I still have a year worth of stockpile, which I'll slowly enjoy and in the meantime, searching for an alternative). So long Barilla, and your garbage "new and improved" (profit margins, maybe)

Ingredients suddenly are changed (and inaccurate ingredients info & photo)

I have loved this Protein Plus pasta for years, low glycemic, more protein, tasted great and a wonderful texture.... So, I ordered again just the other day, received today, and the box is different, has different ingredients listed, and it tastes awful and the texture is the worst part of it. It is like glue like some other pastas made with legume flour can sometimes be.... I suspect it is the missing EGG WHITES, and/or possibly the missing oat and barley flour.... [In and of itself, it's just fine that it's actually now 100% plant based (it now states as such on the new box design, which, again is different than Amazon's photo -- still the old photo of the former box). And actually I can appreciate not having factory-farmed eggs in my food. BUT the taste and texture are now horrible. Sorry, Barilla, I won't be buying or eating this again. Will have to find another high protein pasta and maybe even may find one made with humanely raised eggs

Misleading package picture

I was a very disappointed when I received the product. The site said that the packaging may be different and it was but the product it self was not as stated. for starts the protein on package states there is 17g protein but the package only shows 10g. Although the product description does state the 10g it is very misleading to have the picture of the original package. Please beware and read the description to make sure you are getting what you think you are

Love this pasta

Love this pasta. I never overcook it--it always comes out al dente. I love the added nutrition--high in fiber, omega-3's, protein, etc. But it tastes like regular pasta--doesn't have that earthly "whole grain" taste to it. Even my pickiest eaters cannot tell the difference. It's a great way to sneak in extra nutrients without sacrificing taste/texture

Our Family Favorite Pasta

This is a favorite brand as it has a high protein content and my family still ENJOYS the taste of it, as compared to whole wheat or other "healthy" pastas. I really like that it's made with chickpeas! We buy this by the case and never get tired of it; the angel hair is our favorite but we also love the others. Try tossing with a bit of olive oil, parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves, and black pepper or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes--simple and delicious

Diabetic friendly. So delicious.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in September and have worked extremely hard to bring my A1C to acceptable levels and get completely off my medication. (With Doctor approval). This pasta has been fundamental in the process. Dieting is not easy because it's hard to feel "full" without overeating. This pasta tastes delicious, fills me up, processes within 2 hours so my sugar levels go back into range and it doesn't bother my stomach like a standard chicken pea pasta would do. This is well balanced. Just ordered a case of the Barilla Protein Elbows. So happy I found this! (I'm not a doctor and everyone's body is different, so keep an eye on your own glucose levels, but my experience has been great!

Good vegan choice, fiber, less “wheat” flavor (which we prefer)

Love that the egg whites were removed from original ingredients but the texture has changed since that omission. Less ability to cook al dentè, and texture even if slightly undercooked results in a somewhat mushier starch-like pasta. Long time customer, RN, nutritionist, mom so I'll still have this as a regular staple. My kids have grown up on this and homemade white Italian pasta (more rare now as they're carb conscious. They love both. My clients prefer this lentil based pasta as well

Tasty improvement to regular pasta for diabetics.

UPDATE 12/19: My go to pasta is now Whole Wheat. I noticed that the numbers are fairly similar. 1 is slightly higher in protein, the other slightly higher in fiber. So why not go with the cheaper, which would be whole wheat. I'm experimenting. Some claim that WW is slower to absorb flavors so add pasta & cook together awhile, like baked ziti. Of course you can cook together on top of the stove also. But I've noticed the pasta (on the stove top) does , indeed, absorb the liquid more, so spaghetti & meat sauce does turn out differently--more like baked ziti or baked lasagna. DRIER? I plan to reserve some sauce to spoon over next time. See how that turns out. ORIGINAL POSTING: Protein plus is my go to pasta now that I'm diabetic. Like all hi fiber pastas, this is chewier and doesn't absorb sauce/flavors like regular pasta. It's definitely the closest. And by far the least expensive. Though also not exactly the highest in fiber. I like it much more than chickpea pasta, or Carba-nada. Too be fair, I never got the latter's cook-time right. People tell you to cook these pastas longer than called for. Be careful with that. I would take most out shortly after the recommended time, then cook the smaller amount for longer, to see how it turns out. You don't want to ruin the whole batch of pasta, like I did. (Twice.
