I've been taking some form of protein powder for over a 20 year period. Recently, I've looked for an all in one powder that I can readily make and shake after workouts as well as before bed or during the day if I need a quick meal replacement. This would replace whey after a workout, and casein before bed I am just tired of buying multiple bottles of protein powder. I also just started using a new pre workout instead of C4 it's called METAHUMAN by Prime SUPPS . I found it cheap and works well. This stuff with protein on an otherwise empty stomach in the AM before cardio is really shredding the fat away and gives me great energy throughout the day! Anyway this protein product fit the bill nicely. I look for 4 things when picking out a protein powder (not in any particular order) : 1) Nutrient profile: This has 22 grams of protein, and includes a mix of whey and casein, which is what I was taking before in two separate products. It also has 15 grams of carbs, which is pretty low (I'll buy anything below 20g of carbs, but the lower the better). 2) Flavor: Taste is pretty good. I usually get protein in either chocolate or vanilla, and I got the Vanilla Syntha-6. It doesn't have any sweetener aftertaste or gritty flavor, which is a problem. I usually mix it with water, it tastes as good in water as it can taste. I'll occasionally mix it with milk, which makes it almost creamy tasting but beware Dairy can make you hold water so I only do that when I am bulking or not worried about overall calorie intake. 3) Mixability: Syntha-6 mixes extremely well in water or milk in my shaker bottle, with no clumps. A little bit sticks to the side, which I will chalk up to normal it's sort of unavoidable. 4) Price: Price was descent and better than I can find in a GNC or similar store. Under $25 for over 28 servings of quality protein is a good deal. It's not the cheapest protein powder, but you get what you pay for. IDK everyone has their own favorite protein but this one seems to cover a lot of bases especially if your not prepping for a show. Good luck in finding what works for you

Let me start off by saying I've tried literally every form of protein out there, I worked at GNC for abt 2 years so I always got to try new stuff when it came out, I've found that syntha 6, for the cost, is one of the best tasting/mixing proteins out there. Also has good quality protein and a decent amount of daily nutrition, with that being said the 3 stars is only because of the taste and disappointment of the vanilla. Well I took a risk and changed flavors, went from chocolate milkshake to vanilla because I thought I would give myself more variety for smoothies. Wrong. Vanilla (and this is most def personal opinion) tastes funny with milk, I have to mix it with water to get the desired texture or consistency. Also the taste is just such a disappointment because the chocolate milkshake set such high standards . I will be switching back to chocolate milkshake or I will be ordering a new type of protein. I used whey gold for years but syntha 6 ft me with the taste. I would use hydrowhey but its too exspensive. Muscle milk has too many fats and not enough nutrition, so many new proteins that come out are using cheaper product and claiming to be ultra syththesized or ultaformulated to help protein synthesis breakdown, all bs. Do some research on your products before you buy them, and if at all possible get most of your daily protein from fish, turkey, chicken and various nuts to avoid having to supplement with powder protein. Delicious, nutritious and HUGE

This is the first protein powder I've purchased on Amazon. I have purchased protein powders in the past from another site and they were pretty good, but I figured a change of pace is always a good thing so I went for the Syntha-6 five-pound container of Vanilla Ice Cream flavored protein powder. I've been using it regularly for a month and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I have noticed an increase in energy when I use it to mix up a recovery drink for during and after my cardio workouts. I do P90X workouts and this stuff is perfect for mixing up with a smoothie after I do one of the weight routines. This stuff is so delicious it's hard to believe it's healthy. I look forward to my workouts partly due to the fact that I get to consume this stuff. I have mixed it with water in a plastic water bottle and have had no trouble with clumping (separation of the powder and the water). I have also used the powder in fruit smoothies and it makes them even more smooth and delicious. It also has a really great aroma and tastes and smells very much like vanilla ice cream. The five-pound container is HUGE. I use roughly a scoop a day and I'm sure it will last me for several months. The only downside I can see for buying such a big container of the stuff is that I might get tired of the flavor after a couple months, but I don't foresee that being a problem with this stuff because it is THAT tasty

Wow – best tasting powder yet! Vanilla Ice Cream flavor

Well, I've been trying out various protein powders this year, for trying to lose weight, not for working out. As I type this, I have six different brands in house in various flavors. Syntha-6 beats them all on the flavor. I try the mixes with milk, but judge them on how I normally drink them, which is with cold water. (Milk and I don't agree very much, so I have to limit my milk intake drastically.) So far, I've only tried the Syntha-6 in the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor. I read through almost all the reviews before purchasing,and looked up more on the actual contents of the product on another site. (This is a downfall of Amazon's - they don't provide enough information on the ingredients for food products! To list foods, I wish they'd require at minimum that the Nutrition Facts label contents be posted! Anyway, I must say that this powder has fantastic flavor, both with water and with milk. It is higher in calories than some of the other brands out there, but has more protein. One of the reasons I tried it (and the reason I rule out many other brands/flavors) is that this has NO ASPARTAME. I am allergic to it, and must watch all foods and supplements carefully for it being snuck in to the mixes. This does have some corn syrup in it, which is probably why it tastes so good! But, if you are someone who is avoiding corn sweeteners, then note that this item has it. It tastes a lot like a bowl of good vanilla ice cream that melted would taste. Yes, it is that creamy and tasty. My only real complaint about this item is that it makes a very thin-bodied shake. It is like a glass of vanilla milk in texture. If you mix it with water, it looks like really cheap skim milk. That's a bit of a put-off. I ended up mixing it half and half with a flavor of Spiru-Tein and got a decent, tasty thick shake. (Note that I really don't like Spiru-tein's vanillas - there's not much hope for them. But other flavors mix nicely with this brand's vanilla.) Now, note that I have limitations in my mixing that many others won't have. I am partially disabled, so can't always get ice when I want it, or just throw some frozen fruit into the mix. Many times, I am home alone and the kitchen is downstairs, out of my reach. I did try this with ice, and that helped A LOT. Definitely better and a tad thicker when ice cubes were added to the mix. But, I don't see why Syntha-6 doesn't add a little more of some type of thickener to the mix. It would make a world of difference in the general texture of the drink. I haven't tried adding a little guar gum myself yet, so don't know if that would help. Overall, I really like this product. Since I started using it, my nails have been growing like crazy! Not sure if it is related to this product, but it was certainly a change I experienced. I don't feel hungry afterwards, and it doesn't leave me with "hairy tongue" like some powders do. I definitely will be trying some other flavors as the finances allow

Best-tasting by far

I am not a big protein powder connoisseur, a massive weight lifter or a bodybuilder. I have tried various powders over the past year or two since I got serious about losing weight and getting fit. I've tried the stuff you can get at Wal-Mart and GNC as well as few from here on Amazon like Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 5 Pound . As a dedicated amateur just trying to get fit on his own, I can't really say that the protein part does magic or is any better than any of the other powders. One thing I can say, though, is that this stuff is the best-tasting powder I have ever tried. I could drink these shakes all day and if they were actual meal replacement shakes and not protein shakes I probably would drink them all day. I prefer using milk but even using water Syntha-6 tastes the best IMHO. Not only does it taste the best, I don't get a nasty case of the burps afterwards like I have with other powders. I wish I had tried Syntha-6 first, I would never have tried any other. I like it so much I am probably going to set up an auto-ship so I don't run out

How can you make chocolate & PB taste bad? Some how they did

I like the BSN Syntha-6 protein and have been buying the chocolate milkshake tubs for years. This time I wanted a little something different so I went with the chocolate peanut butter. I mean, you shouldn't have to worry about that flavor combination, right? Wrong! I hate this!!!! Every morning I have to force myself to choke down my shake even though I thought the years of disgusting protein shakes was way in the past. I cannot wait for this tub to be gone so I can go back. I have even considered getting another chocolate milkshake (or two) and mixing them together just to dilute the taste but I worry that will just contaminate the good stuff and turn me off to that flavor as well. I will just tough it out as a reminder to NEVER commit to the 5 lb tub without trying the flavor first. I would recommend seeing if you can find a way to taste test this first and make sure you like it before you make the same mistake I did. [I am typing this review as a way of procrastinating from actually drinking my shake right now. Not good!

I cannot believe this is HEALTHY

This taste so good, wow, just like vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, my hubby had a malignant cancer removed from his face and now in radiation. The doctor said that especially, where the radiation hits, he will suffer in his mouth and throat and won't want to eat. Therefore, we need to have him drink protein shakes. My son recommended this, he is a workout, health freak so I listened and I am so glad I did. I add almond milk, crushed ice, a little water, frozen strawberries or 2 oranges and blend. You will have a true strawberry shake or orange dream smoothy. Yummy. I just purchased the "edge" for myself now. He gets the full fat to keep his weight up and I get the lesser

Great flavor, reliable protein

I've always liked Bsn protein, but never took it on a regular basis until I ordered it this time. I always take it immediately after I'm done working out at the gym everyday to get protein synthesis started asap in the muscles for faster/efficient recovery. Of course the protein isnt the only reason, but I've gained almost 20lbs in less than a month from taking it for the first time. I'm a pretty slim guy & still feel/look slim, so Along with a decent diet, lots of water, & intense workouts this is a great protein to help bulk up. Any flavor of bsn I've had has never disappointed me, I even add peanut butter for more macros & it tastes even better. I definitely recommend for anyone who has tried a protein & thought it tasted like as

Solid protein for a great price

BSA is generally a higher than average brand marketing to serious to semi-serious athletes - so keep that in mind when you order. It's not top of the line, but you're not getting garbage either. On to the Syntha-6 specifically: taste is top notch and hard to beat. Ace-K as a sweetener, along with the other fillers, aren't great for you, but they're in almost all other major brands so it's hard to avoid. The additional 10g BCAAs are a nice touch, however, you don't know which amino acids they're packaging and at what doses - is it effective??? Unless you go to higher end brands, you're going to get proprietary blends and you won't know the dose of each ingredient. That's just something you have to be willing to accept in this tier of supplements. Having a protein blend is great as research suggests that when you add medium-digesting (egg) and slow-digesting (casein) proteins to fast-digesting whey, muscle protein synthesis remains elevated for longer and muscle protein retention is higher. Not many recovery shakes have a protein blend, especially at this price point. Downside to Syntha-6, we don't know how much of each protein source there is. The sodium and carbs are a little high. This makes the nutrition profile more like a meal replacement than a lean protein source. Biggest question is does it work? I would say yes, it outperforms many of the protein shakes at this price point. Overall, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. This is a solid protein shake that tastes great
