While I'm not new to working out or exercising, I am new to performance enhancing supplementation ( PES ).
I've never taken a performance enhancing supplement ( PES ) before.
The reason I decided to start taking a PES is because I just started working out again after a long hiatus and the intensity and duration of my workouts are significantly more than they were prior which resulted in muscle soreness, extreme muscle burn and light cramping / spasms 1st and 2nd day after workout. To be clear I was perfectly fine during and immediately after workout. Soreness, burning and light cramping / spasms began to happen in evening after workout or day after workout and lasted for about two days total without PES.
I did an extensive search using Google to determine what would be best supplement for me to relieve or eliminate muscle soreness, burn and cramping after working out. I wasn't interested in more focus, energy, stamina or additional strength assistance during workout.
There are a lot of products one can choose from, but Alpha Amino stood out among the rest for the following reasons:
1. No Calories
2. No Sugar
3. No Carbs
4. No aspartame ( artificial sweetener - that's very unhealthy & possibly dangerous - flame retardant )
5. No L-arginine ( some reports suggesting can be dangerous and risky if dosage is bit excessive )
6. No Caffeine ( i'm not a coffee drinker and I didn't want stimulant nor possible side effects )
The only items I wish it didn't include were items added for taste & color:
1. Sucralose - artificial sweetener
2. Acesulfame Potassium - artificial sweetner
3. FD&C Red Lake #40

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the above three items. Would prefer unflavored version.

I noticed a lot of the reviews on web stressed and emphasized taste. As I've never tasted or used PES before I suspect it must be horrible when it's unflavored or Cellucor and other vendors would have more unflavored PES's...
While I'm very skeptical and apprehensive about taking PES for numerous reasons, I decided to give Alpha Amino G4 a try since it had so many positive reviews on may websites.
One of my major concerns is possibility of becoming psychologically addicted because of the benefits ( lack of soreness, pain, burn, cramps, spasms ) after working out and possible long term negative and irreversible damage that could potentially be caused.
I've used Alpha Amino G4 Icy Blue Razz several times for pre workout / intra workout / post workout and couple times day after workout.
I have to say the "Icy Blue Razz" flavor tastes very good as others have said. It tastes so good that it seems like it's a soda or soft drink, not a supplement or product that does what it says...
It delivered as advertised:
1. Super easy to mix
2. Eliminated soreness immediately after workout
3. Significantly reduce soreness and cramps day after workout
4. I experienced " NO " negative effects what so ever during first week of using it.
While I'm still in experimental phase of using Alpha Amino G4, it seems to do as advertised. In my opinion, this is a good product for muscle recovery & nourishment as there aren't any stimulants ( for pre workout or intra workout ).
The only negative is it's a bit sweet for my taste during workout...
The only reason I tried taking it during workout was because I thought it might be better to get supplements into my system earlier to reduce or eliminate muscle soreness and cramps later in evening after workout.
I'll try restricting use to pre and post workouts as I tend to prefer straight water, nothing added.
If I notice an increase in muscle soreness or cramps several hours after working out, then I try taking again during workout, but dilute it much more to reduce sweetness.
I work out 2hrs weights, followed by 60-90 mins cardio, elliptical & treadmill or stair climber ( 30-45 min each ).
I do complete workout of everything as opposed to working out different muscles on different days.
I used to workout Mon, Wed, Fri with weights & cardio and Tue & Thu Cardio only.
I now allow two days between workouts for complete recovery since I'm trying to do High Intensive Training ( going from exercise to exercise with minimized rest periods in-between ).
I do two sets of 10-12 reps. When I can comfortably do both sets of 12 reps I increase weights.
I'm by no means a body builder. I used to play sports on regular basis and was very active 4 days a week.
While I'm new to performance enhancement supplements ( PES ), this seems to be a very good product for post recovery primarily and can also be used pre workout or during ( intra ) workout as needed to reduce or eliminate muscle soreness & cramps.
While I wish there was an unflavored version with no sweeteners nor colors added, I do like “Icy Blue Razz”.
