Another benefit is that it does not cause constipation like calcium carbonate does. One draw back and something to keep in mind when purchasing this product is that in order to get the full recommend dose you need to take 4 tablets a day. The dose info on the package does state that two pills are a serving and to take a "serving twice a day or as directed by your DR. " I wish I had started taking this when I was younger and my bones were fine as osteoporosis runs in my family. I do eat a lot a dairy and exercise regularly but at 50 I was diagnosed with osteopenia, first step on the road to osteoporosis. For me since I started Menopause early, in my 30's I should have really started higher doses of calcium then. The old saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure was never truer. Right now I have a broken ankle that should have just been a sprain and I am only 52! I am now taking 4 of these everyday plus per my DR's orders another 1000 mg of D3 so I will have total of 2000 mg of D3 plus Magnesium. Please ask your Dr what is the right dose for you
