Effective and Cost Effective
This is a review of the Doctor's Best High Absorption Magnesium Glycinate Lysinate. 240 Tablets. ASIN B000BD0RT0. Item # DRB-00087. The Problem: I recognized that my diet did not have enough sources of this. Reviewing the benefits of magnesium, I felt this would be a valuable addition for my overall nutritional health. The Solution: I looked up the differences between the forms available. Glycinate was the most easily absorbed. Less likely to cause diarrhea than the citrate. Oxide has less availability than glycinate. The chelated form combined lysine with glycinate, made it more easily tolerated by the digestive tract. That is what led me to these Doctor's Best tablets. What I Like: Dosage form. The pill is 3/4 inch long, 1/4 inch wide, 1/4 inch deep. A touch formidable, but equal in size to others I have taken. I don't have trouble swallowing pills. It is coated, and goes down easily with a swallow or two of water. I take it with food to enhance absorption. Dosage amount: Although the suggested serving size is 2 tablets or 200mg, I know I'm sensitive to medication. So instead of 2 tablets, I take 1 - which provides 24 percent of the recommended daily value. An improvement. Results: It helped me fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer. I feel better in general. I have noticed no side effects with this supplement. No diarrhea. No abdominal pain. No nausea. No irregular heart beat. Key Point: I never realized the importance of Magnesium as a co-factor; something that helps another element or enzyme work to full capacity, acting as a catalyst for reactions. One of those things that is necessary to add when others are not sufficient. I cannot separate what it does directly, from what it contributes to my body processes. I don't know how. I know it plays a key role in my body chemistry and nutrition. Bottom Line: I have felt better. Slept better. So many intangibles, since I added this to my daily supplement regime.
