Great nutritional aid, but need to fix the lids

I get this for my elderly mother and she is able to tolerate drinking an Ensure in the AM and Ensure High Protein in the PM while eating real food in between. Without Ensure, she would have a hard time getting enough nutrition given her absence of apatite. There are two issues with this product, though. She cannot open the Ensure High Protein by due to its hermetically sealed cap and only likes the chocolate flavor. Abbott can't do anything about the latter, but they can and absolutely need to change the lid so that the elderly or arthritic are able to open the product by themselves. I'm not taking any stars off for the lid issue, but hope someone from Abbott reads all of these negative reviews and fixes this problem

I have to say thank you for this product! …

I have to say thank you for this product!! My mother was steadily loosing weight and not eating living by herself. She has mild dementia and was progressing at a pace much faster than we expected. Thanks to her doctor and this product...she loves it and it has made her eat, which in turn has made her gain weight, which in turn to me, feeds her brain and slowed down the progression. She has so much energy that its hard for her to stay still. Thank again for bringing that light back in her eyes and for this product and am the flavors!!!

They love Ensure but this high protein drink

I buy these for my family. They love Ensure but this high protein drink, albeit it is healthier than traditional Ensure, has a chalky kind of taste for the chocolate. The high protein (which I'm guessing is whey protein infused in the drink) gives it that taste. Still, an excellent drink to drink yourself or give to someone in need of nutrients and/or recovery. I have seen the miracles of helping patients recover and this does shorten recovery times

Reliable nutrition at a decent price

I recently had major surgery, and you don't always want to eat a full meal, or don't want to eat at all. Ensure's a decent way to get a "meal". This price is way less than what you can find it for at retail stores such as Walmart, plus with Prime shipping to our door is free, so I think this was a pretty good deal. I docked a star from flavor because I've always thought Ensure (and frankly all similar drinks) taste chalky. I wouldn't choose them (any of them) as a first choice for a meal replacement, but they're not bad if you're hungry, don't feel like (or can't ) cooking

Delicious and for many a valid meal replacement!

In no way, of course, should you ever drink Ensure to replace all meals; however, I have found that using it versus a snack has helped me a great deal with energy as well as shedding a good 10 pounds. While I have no actual proof to back that up, and again, no one should drink these strictly as a meal day in and day out, they are a very valid replacement for meals here and there, and it has helped me. For me, too, the taste is delicious

Life Line

This item is a life line to many Elderly, why is it so overpriced? It is sad the cost is out of reach for most and limited for others. The elderly need help, coupons, discount or something to help them sustain themselves with dignity. This price leave little else for them to live on, if they were able to buy what is truly needed

Delicious and not just for Grandma!

I am not elderly and I'm fairly healthy. However due to a medical condition I became anemic and needed to add iron to my diet. Due to G.I. issues, iron pills were not possible for me. I tried Ensure because it has 25% of the daily value of iron. I was very surprised at all the other nutrition that it has including zinc, protein, and several vitamins. This product is very tasty. It comes in easy to handle plastic containers and the packaging was well protected for shipping. Even though my iron deficiency is improving - no doubt due to this product's help, I will continue to use it to supplement my nutrition and at times as a convenient-quick meal replacement on the go. Ensure is not just for grandma anymore

Impossible for older folks to open

I bought these shakes for an elderly parent on the recommendation of the nursing home. Came to visit and found out that he'd not consumed any because he couldn't manage to get around the tamper-proof seal on each bottle. I work with my hands and I couldn't manage to remove the seals easily...a total PITA. I recommend that Ensure redesign the seal so that it can be removed by those with less dexterity

Nutritional shake with no after taste

I love the strawberry flavor it's delicious. I put mine in the refrigerator and made sure I shook them up before opening them.I love these soo much and I will be purchasing more
