Good but too much sugar

Basically the best tasting meal replacement nutritional shake but that's probably related to the fact that it's loaded with sugar. Per volume it's about the same as soda (22g for 8oz Ensure, vs 35-40 for 12oz soda) which isn't really acceptable for this category of drink IMHO. In fact it's the highest sugar drink in this category. But.... it depends on your goals for whether or not that matters I suppose. I tested a bunch of drinks and ended up liking Glucerna the best overall, it's made by the same company. It's low sugar (6g) and aimed at diabetics but I really like it, as the flavor/texture is very similar to ensure but just way less sugar/carbs, and more fiber and protein. It costs a little more but not much. That's my opinion anyways. If you don't care about sugar then ensure is probably a good choice. But if you care about sugar intake then look elsewhere as all the other drinks I've tested have at most 15g of sugar, vs 22g for Ensure

Ensure – definitely recommend

My Neurosurgeon's provided me with a case of Ensure to drink prior to my 8 hour back surgery about a year ago. I was given more each day while I was in the hospital & again daily at the Rehabilitation Nursing facility. I was at the Rehabilitation nursing home for another month. I love the taste. My favorite is the vanilla original. Prior to my surgery I was under mega stress & mega pain for several years. During this time I was losing alot of hair, was always fatigued, grinding my teeth & I gained alot of weight. I was unable to cook myself proper meals because I couldn't stand long enough to cook a nutritious meals. The surgery changed my life. I am not in mega severe pain like I was prior to surgery. I will always have problems & will live in pain for the rest of my life. After several months of rehab & drinking Ensure I was finally feeling better. Even my mood changed for the better. I stopped losing hair & had more energy. ( still have the excess weight...Grrrr) I continued to drink Ensure for just over a year on a daily basis. During this time the medical bill's started to fill the mailbox. I had to cut expenses & Ensure was on that list. Approximately 4 months later I started losing hair again, my energy plummeted & depressed. I can cook more than I used to but I still have trouble. So, making nutritional meals every day- just not happening. I tried different multivitamins & other meal replacement drinks to feed my body what it needs. I was not getting results. Therefore, back to Ensure. Now I just need to find other ways to cut expenses so that I can afford Ensure. Social Security Disability payments just are not enough. I definitely recommend Ensure. It has proven itself to me & my body & brain. I usually purchase Ensure at the Grocery store. I don't drive because of my back issues & I need to depend on others. Well I was out of Ensure & no one could get me to the store. I was pleasantly surprise that I could get Ensure through Amazon & they have a larger case & the price is only slightly more

Milk chocolate formulation recently changed – tastes completely different

The milk chocolate Ensure with fiber has been my go-to in helping to battle morning sickness and get/keep down some much needed nutrients for baby. I tried several other brands and flavors, but this was the only one I found palatable. And it was working - so well that I had it on Subscribe and Save. Until now. The latest delivery (this month) is a different formulation. I didn't notice originally, because the bottles look the same until you read the labels (and who does that with products they've been consuming on the regular for a while?) - same size, same color, same branding, but the nutrition details in the fine print, and the ingredients list is different. I noticed immediately this morning when I opened one of the new bottles, though - it tasted funny. Different. Wrong. Almost like a diet version of the “original” I was used to. I'm one of those who can tell a huge difference in the taste of regular and diet soda - the fake sugars just leave this weird (and gross) aftertaste that I can't handle. I thought maybe it had expired, but on checking, that wasn't it. So I got one of the bottles from my last delivery to compare, and found the difference. In my pictures, last month's delivery is on the left, the newest delivery on the right. They've reformulated (without notifying consumers) to reduce the sugars and calories, and increase the fiber slightly. And, based on the taste, it seems they've done it with fake sugars. Which might be fine for those who aren't sensitive to the taste of fake sugars, or who value the reduction in calories. But since I can taste the difference (not a good one), and was using this to boost nutrition and calories for a growing human, this no longer works for me. I'm bummed - both because I'm now back to the drawing board for a decent solution to my problem, and perhaps more so because Ensure tried to sneak this change in without notifying consumers and declaring the change. Deceptive practice, in my opinion

Shortage in order

I ordered the 24 bottles of vanilla ensure. When it arrived today it appeared to have been opened and repackaged and only had 20 bottles. Can I get my other 4 bottles

Great Nutrition Snack

Bought a pack for my mother she likes the flavor although she said that it is too sweet for her. I suggested that she can blend the formula with her favorite fruit such as strawberries, banana, blueberries to make a smoothie. This is great for in between meals

Extreme test

When I was in my 20s, I got sick with something that swelled my tonsils up so badly that I couldn't even eat noodles for 6 months. That was when I found ensure. I DON'T RECOMMEND doing this, but I absolutely lived off of this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner almost every day until whatever I had went away. And I didn't die, so I guess it did its job. Thus, I can say with confidence this is something you want in your pantry as a food backup. Just in case

Helps gain weight

My husband lost down to 93# in April after having a infection in his jaw and couldn't eat I bought him the Chocolate flavored ensure and he drinks at least 4 a day and now weighs 131#. Some times he might add some vanilla ice cream and turns it into a malt
