Vitamin D and nausea in gastroparesis
We delved into an intriguing question: how do low vitamin D levels affect nausea in people experiencing gastroparesis, a condition that slows gastric emptying? By measuring the vitamin D levels of patients from the Gastroparesis Clinical Consortium Registry, we aimed to uncover the relationships between vitamin D, nausea, and gastric function.

Our findings revealed that over half of the patients had low vitamin D levels, specifically 56.1% of the 513 individuals studied. We observed a clear association between these low levels of vitamin D and increased experiences of nausea and vomiting. This was particularly notable in patients with delayed gastric emptying, where those with low vitamin D levels reported significantly more nausea.

While the study showed a correlation, it did not address whether supplementing with vitamin D could directly alleviate these symptoms. Instead, we found that lower vitamin D levels also related to a greater retention of food in the stomach after meals, which hints at a connection to gastric neuromuscular dysfunction. Overall, our study emphasized a noteworthy link between vitamin D and nausea but stopped short of confirming any direct treatment benefits.

We explored the impact of folic acid combined with ferrous bisglycinate on nausea in pregnant women facing iron deficiency. In a controlled trial involving 120 participants, we discovered that the group taking ferrous bisglycinate with folinic acid reported significantly fewer instances of nausea and other discomforts compared to those receiving a standard iron supplement.

Our study involved 716 women between the ages of 20 and 29, who provided blood samples to measure their vitamin D status and completed questionnaires about their PMS experiences.

By classifying participants as either vitamin D sufficient or insufficient based on their plasma levels, we examined how these levels correlated with nausea, alongside a specific genetic variation in the vitamin D receptor gene. Interestingly, we found that women with the CC genotype who had low vitamin D levels were more likely to experience nausea, whereas those with the TT genotype exhibited a low likelihood of suffering from nausea under similar conditions.

Overall, we can say that vitamin D's impact on nausea does not occur in isolation; it is modified by genetic factors. This highlights the importance of considering both vitamin D status and genetic background when trying to understand the factors contributing to PMS symptoms like nausea.

DONT BUY IF YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS. The flavour of these is nauseating and does not help with morning sickness, which is already challenging. I suggest sticking to pill prenatals if you suffer from morning sickness.

No Nausea Prenatals! It was difficult to find prenatals that didn't make me nauseous or cause burping. I struggled to remember to take them because I dreaded it, thinking I had less nausea when I forgot. These were a game changer! They taste great, and I thankfully experience no nausea taking them. They're a great price, and I never forget to take them.

First Vitamin I have ever WANTED to take! This is the first vitamin I've actually looked forward to taking daily. As someone who experiences morning nausea, I need something gentle on my stomach. I can take this on an empty stomach with no issues. My only complaint is a slightly odd aftertaste, although it’s not terrible.

Telephonic intervention boosts adherence
We set out to explore how a telephonic intervention could improve adherence to iron and folic acid supplements among pregnant women suffering from anemia. This study involved 286 participants who received phone reminders and messages for one month.

Dysmenorrhea influences pregnancy nausea
We conducted a retrospective cohort study to investigate the relationship between nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) and dysmenorrhea measured by a verbal rating scale. Our research included 443 pregnant women, divided into those experiencing NVP and a control group.

From our findings, we noticed a clear association between moderate to severe dysmenorrhea and a heightened risk of NVP, especially during the first trimester. Great Prenatals! These contain folic acid and DHA, which are necessary during pregnancy. They’re not sour, easy to take, and a lifesaver during those first few months when nausea can be tough. Highly recommend!
