We assessed the impact of various herbal medicines, including oregano, on treating different forms of rhinosinusitis. In our analysis, which included 47 randomized controlled trials, we particularly focused on the effects of oregano on chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSsNP).
Our findings indicated that Origanum vulgare, or oregano, showed it could effectively improve symptoms and overall quality of life for individuals dealing with CRSsNP. However, we noted that the certainty of the evidence supporting this claim was low, meaning more robust studies are needed to validate these results.
While oregano might be a promising herbal option, the evidence is not strong enough to definitively recommend it as the go-to treatment. Additionally, we must keep in mind that adverse effects can arise from some herbal treatments, making it vital to approach this with caution.
