The Benefits of Fish oil, Reflux Treatment
According to current medical research, there is limited evidence to support the use of Fish oil for preventing or helping with Reflux symptoms. Gastroesophageal Reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic condition characterized by the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn and acid regurgitation. While some studies suggest that omega-3 fatty acids found in Fish oil may have anti-inflammatory properties that could potentially alleviate inflammation in the esophagus and reduce Reflux symptoms, the overall evidence is inconclusive.
A systematic review published in the Journal of Gastroenterology in 2018 analyzed several clinical trials on the use of omega-3 fatty acids, including Fish oil, for managing GERD. The review concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support the use of Fish oil as a therapeutic intervention for GERD. However, it is important to note that research in this area is still evolving, and future studies may provide more conclusive results.
