The Benefits of Selenium, Gout Treatment

According to available medical research, there is limited evidence to suggest that Selenium has a direct impact on preventing or helping with Gout Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by the build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints. While Selenium is an essential trace mineral with antioxidant properties that may contribute to overall joint health, its role in specifically preventing or treating Gout is not well-established.

One study published in the Journal of Rheumatology in 2006 found that lower blood Selenium levels were associated with an increased risk of Gout suggesting that Selenium could potentially play a protective role. However, this was an observational study and further research is needed to understand the potential therapeutic effects of Selenium supplementation in Gout management.
