Was really excited to try this for my son who has severe eczema. This was recommend by his drs to try. When it arrived it was warm as well as the ice pack. I was hesitant about even using it so I wrote the company this is what they said..... Our products are temperature controlled prior to shipment and then shipped with an ice pack with 2 day shipping. However, the ice may melt (and sometimes does, especially in the summer months) by the time you receive your package. iServe is an authorized seller for Garden of Life on Amazon and we have worked directly with them on our shipping methods. So basically, Garden of Life overloads the probiotics in these products to give a longer window of viability and then we shorten the time at higher temperatures with the ice pack. We have checked the UPS tracking # for this order and see it was received in about 48 hours. Your probiotic is still viable and should now be refrigerated. Garden of Life tells us this about shipping and storing their probiotics.
"Our refrigerated Probiotics should ideally be stored in a cool, dry place below 71°F (22°C) and at less than 30% humidity. It is best stored and shipped refrigerated, both before and after opening. If the Probiotics are shipped without a cold package or if they arrived warm, some of the probiotics would die off however, to ensure that our Arrive Alive™ potency promise is kept, we have formulated the Probiotics with more than the guaranteed CFU therefore the product would still be viable. We recommend refrigerating the product as soon as possible because refrigeration is optimal, especially for long term storage. The brief warming period does not degrade the efficacy of the probiotics and you can feel confident about taking this product.
So I went ahead and felt confident giving it a try. I took it to see how it would make me feel as well as both my sons. I felt sick and had stomach cramps and diarrhea for a day which is normal when taking probiotics. My 6 year old complained of stomach pain and had loose stools for a day but my 3 year old who has eczema is still having stomach pain and loose stools and we all only had one dose. So it was still active and strong enough to work but I think maybe too strong
