Discontinuing iron improves pregnancy nausea
We explored whether stopping iron-containing prenatal multivitamins could alleviate nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. In a study involving 97 women seeking help for severe nausea, we discovered that two-thirds reported an improvement after switching to alternatives like folic acid or children's vitamins.

This significant finding, backed by both qualitative and quantitative measures, shows that avoiding iron supplements in early pregnancy may be beneficial for many women struggling with nausea.

Prenatal vitamins and nausea outcomes
We aimed to understand how prenatal multivitamins, particularly those containing low doses of iron, affect women with existing gastrointestinal (GI) issues during pregnancy. By comparing women with and without GI conditions, we found that those with GI issues did not have more side effects or lower adherence to taking multivitamins.

In fact, they may have experienced less severe nausea and vomiting compared to women without GI conditions. This suggests that small, low-dose iron prenatal vitamins should still be considered a viable option for pregnant women with such pre-existing conditions.

Prenatal vitamins and nausea insights
We examined how two different prenatal multivitamins impacted nausea in pregnant women. Our study involved 135 participants who tried both PregVit, which contains less iron, and Materna, with a higher iron level.

We found that PregVit led to lower rates of constipation, making it more tolerable for users. Interestingly, with Materna, higher nausea and vomiting were linked to lower compliance. In contrast, these issues didn’t affect how well women tolerated PregVit.

Less nausea

I switched to this prenatal midway through my pregnancy and noticed a significant change! My previous prenatals made me nauseous, but these actually alleviated my nausea and restored my energy. The smell and taste aren't great, so I'd advise taking them while holding your breath or with juice. Although you need to take three daily, it becomes a habit. Nutrition is crucial during pregnancy, especially with morning sickness, and I highly recommend these!

Reduced nausea significantly

Best prenatal for morning sickness. This is my third pregnancy, and I've experienced terrible morning sickness in all of them. In my previous pregnancies, I couldn't even handle vitamins and lost weight during the second trimester due to feeling so sick. However, this time, I tried these vitamins and managed to take them throughout. I noticed reduced nausea and vomiting, and I started my second trimester without weight loss. They made a substantial difference; I could tell if I forgot to take it. I didn't take this capsule three times a day; only twice when my appetite was poor, and now that I can eat healthily, I take it just in the morning. I hope this brings comfort to others experiencing severe morning sickness.

Unfortunately, these prenatals have not suited me well at all. They have caused consistent nausea since the start of my pregnancy, significantly worse than in my previous pregnancy. Suspiciously, on the days I forgot to take them, I felt markedly better. My symptoms included extreme nausea, headaches, and a general unwell feeling. After thorough reflection, I concluded these may be the culprit for my discomfort. Despite their popularity, I encourage others to listen to their bodies and consider pausing if feeling unwell.

No nausea noted

These prenatal vitamins have been fantastic for me! I was able to take them both with and without food without any adverse effects. I started taking them before pregnancy, and my nausea only began when I ran out of them. As soon as I resumed taking them, everything returned to normal. They contain ginger and probiotics, which I believe helped lessen my stomach discomfort. I've even suggested them to friends suffering from frequent nausea, and they found them effective as well.

Nausea alleviated
1 people found this helpful
I experimented with taking these three times a day and found them effective during my first trimester discomfort. I typically felt nauseated and experienced many symptoms at night. Since taking these vitamins with dinner, my nausea and appetite have improved. I no longer suffer from gas pains that kept me awake, and my overall mood has brightened. Staying hydrated with lemon water helps mask any taste. I am very pleased with my progress and the increased energy I've noted.
