We investigated the role of Saccharomyces boulardii, a helpful probiotic, in combating Candida albicans, a troublesome pathogen for those with weakened immune systems.

By examining the effects on specific human intestinal cell lines, we found that both S. boulardii and its culture extract notably reduced C. albicans' ability to adhere to these cells.

Additionally, the extract lowered the production of harmful inflammatory markers, suggesting it may help manage inflammation linked to these infections. Overall, our findings highlight the potential of S. boulardii as a supportive treatment against candidiasis.

Saccharomyces boulardii reduces Candida translocation
We explored how orally administered Saccharomyces boulardii affects the translocation of Candida albicans from the gastrointestinal tract in mice. In this study, antibiotic-treated mice were challenged with C. albicans to simulate intestinal overgrowth.

We found that S. boulardii reduced the likelihood of C. albicans being detected in lymph nodes for healthy mice, but it did not lower its concentration there. However, in mice subjected to immunosuppression, S. boulardii significantly decreased both the incidence and the quantities of C. albicans translocation to various organs, showcasing its potential benefits in immunocompromised situations.

Saccharomyces boulardii's efficacy evaluated
We aimed to understand how Saccharomyces boulardii affects Candida albicans in a mouse model with chemically-induced colitis. By administering S. boulardii alongside C. albicans, we found that the yeast significantly reduced C. albicans colonization and inflammation related to the colitis.

Mice treated with S. boulardii showed lower levels of inflammatory markers and less severe symptoms than those that did not receive the yeast. Overall, our findings suggest that S. boulardii can help combat C. albicans and alleviate inflammation in this context.

After several rounds of antibiotics left my husband with intestinal candida, he tried numerous products before discovering this one. It’s the only product that has truly helped! He can’t imagine being without it now. Additionally, our daughter prefers this to prescription medications for her IBS. Thank you, Jordan!

After years of trying other probiotics with little success to manage candida, I found this amazing product. After just two bottles, my candidiasis cleared up and has not returned! This was significant progress, especially following a course of antibiotics that would typically leave me in agony; however, using Primal Defense alongside resulted in no symptoms. It has made me somewhat constipated, so monitoring how my body reacts is essential.

I have been taking probiotics for many years now to combat systemic candidiasis. Initially sceptical due to the brownish-green capsules, I found it excellent at maintaining a healthy balance. I can certainly tell when I miss a day or two. This has proven more effective for me than others I’ve tried.

We set out to explore how lactobacillus acidophilus, specifically strain B-2178, impacts vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) in female rats. By dividing our study subjects into five groups, we included controls and examined the effects of different treatments.

In particular, we analyzed the immune response of the vaginal tissue after intravaginal inoculation to establish VVC. The rats treated with strain B-2178 showed a promising ability to maintain an immune-tolerant state in the vaginal epithelium. Through this action, it seemed capable of reducing uncontrolled inflammation, which is often a challenge during candidiasis.

Although our findings suggest that B-2178 may be beneficial in treating VVC, it's important to note that the overall focus was broader and did not isolate lactobacillus acidophilus alone. This makes it difficult to pinpoint the specific advantages of this particular strain compared to others.

Ultimately, it appears that while B-2178 exhibits potential, more targeted research is required to evaluate its effectiveness in isolating and addressing candidiasis comprehensively.

We explored how introducing probiotics in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) affected the prevalence of candidemia and candiduria in children receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics. In a retrospective study comparing two groups, we found that candidemia rates dropped significantly from 3.7% in the control group to 1.2% among those taking probiotics. Similarly, candiduria fell from 22% to 10.7%. These results suggest that probiotics may help reduce the risk of these fungal infections in critically ill children.

Our investigation looked at how the probiotic yeast Saccharomyces boulardii can help combat candidiasis, particularly by reducing the virulence of Candida albicans. We found that S. boulardii secretes compounds that diminish C. albicans's ability to grow filaments, adhere, and form biofilms. Specifically, capric acid was identified as the main contributor to these inhibitory effects. While capric acid had a significant impact, it was less effective than the full yeast extract, which had additional factors that help suppress C. albicans adhesion.

I have taken many probiotics, but this one adheres remarkably to the intestinal lining and colon. I began with three capsules daily to manage Candida and increased to eight upon experiencing die-off symptoms, indicating it’s working. Although the die-off was quite intense, I would consider moving up to twelve a day, as advised by a Primal Defense representative in a video.

Effective transit

This is the only probiotic that works for me; others caused constipation. By taking three capsules a day after starting slow, my transit is back on track. I re-seeded my intestines with this probiotic post-intestinal candidiasis. However, I wish I had more guidance from my naturopath on the duration for which to take them.

Biotherapeutic agents show potential
We reviewed placebo-controlled studies to see how biotherapeutic agents, like Saccharomyces boulardii, can help treat infections, including candidiasis. While many studies showed promising results in preventing antibiotic-related diarrhea and treating other infections, evidence specifically supporting the effectiveness of S. boulardii for vaginal candidiasis is limited. We found few adverse effects, but the sample sizes in studies were often small. Overall, it's a call to further research these microorganisms to potentially reduce our reliance on conventional antibiotics.
