This is what we normally give to hospitalized patients as a substitute for a meal if they don't have much appetite. You can put it in a freezer for an hour and it becomes a slushee. The only difficult thing is elderly patients or people with peripheral neuropathy would find it difficult to open it. Otherwise, this is a temporary good substitute for a meal

I drink them occasionally as meal replacements when i'm trying to cut down my calories, and I do feel fairly satisfied, surprisingly. These taste creamy and delicious like dessert, and are a good portion size at 8 oz.The two flavors in this case of 12 chocolates and 12 vanillas seem to have similar nutritional profiles outside of the obvious cocoa vs. vanilla ingredient differences, and I only noticed Potassium being varied from chocolate (14%) vs. vanilla (11%) on the nutritional label. I put the two labels side by side in my pic, with chocolate on the left and vanilla on the right. One thing that is problematic for my mom is that the plastic coverings on these are a bit difficult for her to remove on her own, despite the "easy opening" label, and she usually needs to get help. Outside of that somewhat serious logistical problem, I would say these are a good alternative to having a health-type bar, are easier to both ingest and digest for those with difficultly, and are actually pleasant to drink on their own without having any alternative agenda. I'd definitely recommend

I'm a diabetic on SSD. I get a small payment each month. It's not enough to be able to buy much food and a product like this, 1 to 2 times a month, is just not feasible. No matter how much we may want/need it. Abbott, the pharm. company that makes it knows people need a product like this (same with medicines) , and not just diabetics, which is why it is so expensive. Same goes with the actual meds they create. The outrageous prices for drugs. Many are out of reach by normal Americans so they get sicker and die. Lord knows they don't make them in the U. S.. All the products are made in china now and are unsafe. There hasn't been an FDA inspection in some of those plants for years. Not sure if the Glucerna is made there but the drugs, insulin, asprine, Tylenol, motrin, allergy meds, basically everything u have in your medicine cabinet is made in china. God help us b4 they stop production on critical meds! ðŸ™ðŸ

I tried every brand you can easily get in the grocery store, and they all taste terrible EXCEPT for Glucerna. The chocolate one tastes just like chocolate milk, but I have come to like the vanilla flavor too, so I alternate between the two flavors. This is a great product to have on hand in your refrigerator if you need to eat something, but don't have time to fix some food

Abbott Labs is a trusted, established health care company, so we have confidence in using their products. My Dad is a Type-2 Diabetic with an unfortunate sweet tooth. We thought the Variety Pack of these Glucerna Shakes would be worth trying at managing his blood sugar while he's at work. He said these products did help to curb that dessert-craving a bit -- both varieties were "surprisingly" very flavorful; the chocolate a good milk cocoa, and the vanilla with a melted ice cream taste. He has one for breakfast, and says they are pretty filling until lunch. They have a creamy texture and without any chalky after-taste of most similar drinks. Each 8 fl oz shake is 180 calories with an impressive (Spark) breakdown of 10g Protein / 16g Carbs / 9g Fat, and a over 25% of the Recommended Daily Value of 24 different vitamins and minerals! Also, they are Gluten Free, safe for lactose intolerance, Kosher and Halal. You get twelve each of the Rich Chocolate and Homemade Vanilla, for a total of 24 shakes. They arrive packed tightly in a fairly nondescript cardboard box, in recyclable, sealed plastic bottles. We got them in June 2018 and the Best-By date is through May 2019 for the chocolate and June 1019 for the vanilla. They are a bit pricey, but when managing a health concern, that is subjective. My dad wants to try some of the other flavors, now
