I wish I would have found this 10 years ago, instead of endlessly struggling with extreme bloating and misery all this time. It's only been 10 days and I cannot even begin to believe the results. I've seen many doctors and spent more money on pills and potions than I can even count - all to no avail. This fixes what no one and nothing else could, even with similar products. This product, however, is different than the others. A difference I never thought about before. I'm getting married in 4 months and was beside myself with the thought of battling terrible bloating in my wedding dress - I'd simply have to stop eating a month ahead of time! A friend of mine highly recommended this, and while I told her I had something similar on hand, she pointed out that THIS one is enteric coated. Meaning, it will make it through your stomach acid to finally work later on down the line where it's NEEDED. All these years the other pricey pills I took all died in my belly, never really doing anything - and the total lack of results proved it. Take on an empty stomach, 1 a day and work your way up to higher doses of two a day and so forth. Start with the 5 billion caps and work your way up to higher potency levels, or else experience rapid die off and illness. Go slowly. I'd highly recommend getting a good liquid Echinacea with Goldenseal, such as alcohol free from Gaia to go along with these - Gaia Herbs Echinacea Goldenseal Supreme, Alcohol-Free, 1-Ounce Bottle . Take a dropperful in a juice once a day during the first few weeks, and especially if you wake up feeling a bit flu-like - that's the die off and the Echinacea will kick it, while the Goldenseal will help dry that stuff up, get it out of your system. Also massively helpful in stopping an oncoming illness later on down the line. Feeling like you've got something coming on, grab your Echinacea, add to some juice two days in a row and you'll most likely ward it off. Totally worth it, I am NEVER without a bottle of this stuff. I just wish I'd known about Jarro-dophilus years ago. Anyway, buy the Jarro-dophilus. Cut your sugar and flour intake down for a couple weeks and increase your greens and proteins - you'll get the best use of the pills this way, with the most astounding result. If I have this much relief in ten days, I cannot imagine the results I'll have over the next couple months. I am starting to think I will not have to look like a Fantasia Hippo in my wedding dress afterall

Jarrow Probiotics are a wonderful, wonderful thing. If you have problems with things like acid reflux or heartburn, this is the product for you. I used to have both of these issues and took aciphex, prilosec, and countless others that tore my stomach up even worse than what I was attempting to fix, but jarrow probiotics was recommended by someone in the whole foods store in bedford, Massachusetts and it has been smooth sailing ever since. I no longer have any problems with acid reflux or heartburn, and I can eat whatever I chose to eat, without any side effects. It is not an overnight fix, though. You do have to take it for a few weeks to begin to feel the difference when you eat a food that would normally cause you a problem, and you do have to continue to use the probiotics daily, but the good thing is that you can cut down on the dose once you achieve the desired results, and this is a natural product, so you can take it forever if you choose for maintenance. It really works out your digestive system as well, and gets you back to using the restroom regularly, without any issues

I wanted to use this product for awhile before leaving my review. I was diagnosed with severe crohns disease back in october of 2012 and given some harsh medicines and within a month i needed to receive an emergency stomach resection where they took roughly 8 inches of my small intestine, 4" from my large, some of my colon, and my appendix. I was told that i have over a 90% chance of needed another surgery within a year and that i needed to go onto medicines that could cause cancer and many many other issues. I was highly against this route and decided to go all natural in trying to combat my issue. Ive been taking jarro-dophilus soon after this as well as a few other all natural digestive enzymes and my condition immediately turned around and have been in remission for over 5 years now and my doctors are incredibly impressed. All of my bloodwork and tests are coming back much better than the normal crohns patients. These truly do work wonders for me and I will be taking them for the rest of my life. On a side note, since taking these I hve not gotten sick or needed any type of antibiotics when before i would be going to the doctor roughly 1 or 2 times a year with some type of sickness so this proves that it is also helping with the immune system. This is a very good product at a competitive price. I love fiber-rich food, but over a long time this diet changed my gut flora and caused flatulence problems. It took about a month of taking this product to have these problems signficantly reduced and I can now eat certain food again that I couldn't eat before withoput massive problems. Therefore it is important to keep taking this product for a while before you can expect relief from your problems. Initially, I have hoped that after a while I would no longer need these capsules as my gut bacteria would be changed back to "normal". However, that hasn't work, I still need to continue to use this product. I also want to let other interested customers know that over the last several years a number of high profile scientific publications have unambigously shown that probiotic products massively change the composition of the gut flora and that there is a strong connection between the gut flora and the human immune system. While not all effects caused by the gut flora composition are well understood, there is clear scientific backing for quality probiotic products, ie.e this is not just another placebo-effect product

I have ulcerative colitis and have had two c-diff infections in the past. My gastroenterologist suggested I try probiotics to help with flare ups and to maybe lessen the problems with c-diff. On the one hand, there isn't a lot of scientific proof probiotics help. On the other hand, it's not really going to hurt you either. With that being said, probiotics seem to help me. Jarro-dophilus was the first probiotic I ever tried. Because of my disease, I usually look for probiotics that have more than 3 strains and several billion units. This one has 8 strains of "good" probiotics with 5 billion units. To me, the higher the numbers, the better chance it will have some type of effect. Also, because of the c-diff infections, I try to get brands that have lactobacillus rhamnosus. This brand has it. The nice thing about the Jarro-dophilus is that there are 120 capsules. A lot of brands give only 30 or 60 capsules and you have to be careful because they may say take two a day. If it's 2 capsules a day, 30 capsules isn't even a one month supply. This brand says take 1 to 2 capsules a day so conceivably, it's either a two to four-month supply depending on how many you take a day. My GI doctor suggested I take one a day and only go to two a day if I'm having a flare up or other symptoms. Although it's not a big deal to me, Jarro-dophilus does not require refrigeration. I've used types that require refrigeration, require refrigeration after opening, or don't require it at all. They all have worked fine for me. If you are one to travel a lot, you may want to consider ones that do not require refrigeration. Also, it's a bit more convenient when you don't need to worry about refrigeration, especially on days you're in a rush and trying to get out the door. You don't want to get to work and then wonder if you remembered to put the probiotic back in the fridge. One thing that surprised me was that these come in blister packs within the box. I would have preferred to have them all in a bottle, but it works the same. Maybe the blister packs are more convenient when traveling. Overall, I think this is a very good product that has worked for me. My doctor suggests switching brands every so often and I tend to make sure Jarro-dophilus is in the rotation

I had collitis for 5 weeks and lost 15 pounds in that period about a year ago. Thought I was dying going to the bathroom 10 times a day or more. I was bleeding from wiping too much and it was all I could do. It was absolutely the worst period of my life. I had taken an antibiotic for a nasty chest cold and had a bad reaction even though I was eating yogurt and acidophilus pills. I was resigned to dry toast and chicken soup and that only helped to decrease urgency and frequency (simply less and unsustainable). I couldn't even drink plain water. I took these religiously (4 a day like they say) for a week and was down to less than 5 times a day and then by 9 days I was regular. I went from extremely depressed wondering how long this could last or I could. this gave me a newfound appreciation for being healthy and forever a deep sympathy for anybody with anything that causes colitis. I should have wrote this review a while ago so anyone going through something similar may give it a try. I've been taking these capsules (2 per day) for 1-1/2 years now. Prior to starting, I'd been sick with colds, sinus infections, and two URIs for 3 months straight. I have used quite a number of probiotic supplements over a period of several years, and for my money none comes close to this one. It has many strains of beneficial bacteria, it is shelf-stable (no refrigeration needed) so it is easy to take with me on trips, and it WORKS. My whole digestion has improved, and no more constipation...EVER. I absolutely believe that everyone should take a good probiotic, and I heartily recommend this one. And I add: if this one doesn't make you feel terrific and correct digestive problems, please try another that perhaps has different strains of bacteria. I do think that this is a good place to start, as the price is reasonable and Jarrow is a quality manufacturer. To your health

I've tried a multitude of probiotic strains - those that are shelf stable by a variety of brands, those that require refrigeration, those that are provider only brands (meaning you can only get them from licensed providers), more expensive brands, etc. and I consistently like and return to Jarrow EPS. Why I like the Jarrow EPS: Consistently reliable: The Jarrow brand consistently has what it claims and with no hidden ingredients or harmful chemicals as verified by consumer lab, an independent lab that checks supplements to see if what they claim to have inside they really do, while also looking for harmful contaminants & other hidden ingredients. I highly recommend you join their membership to access their many reviews on supplements as well as reports on various supplements, what they're supposed to do, what evidence supports it (or not) etc. they're a great, reliable, independent source for information. Gentle (plus how to avoid gurgles/gas when you first start any probiotic): I have not experienced any abdominal distress or other issues with this brand. That being said, do bear in mind that you need to slowly introduce any new probiotic to your body. Don't take these for the first time ever right before that fancy date or big interview. In general, many probiotics can make you a bit gurgly/gassy when you first start on them if you've never taken probiotics before. Always start low (low doses) and go slow (slowly increase amounts) to see how they'll effect you. For EPS and other gut probiotics you may be gurgly for a week or so while the good buggies move in, get established and overtake some of the bad buggies. I look at it like a neighborhood turf war....the neighborhood's gone down hill, lots of miscreants and hooligans (sounds more ominous with those words...) and some new folks are moving in with the intention of cleaning up the place and making it respectable again - there's always a bit of fuss before things settle in. If you're super sensitive, start every other day or every 3rd day and work your way up - seriously, some tummies are much more sensitive than others and especially if you have a lot of the bad buggies settled in (which can happen if you've taken lots of antibiotics, as they kill everything good and bad and often it's the mean baddies that are most aggressive at re-settling your gut neighborhood and can become dominant). Shelf Stable: These are going to be fine in the cabinet for most folks, unless you live somewhere that gets hot and you don't use A/C. They'll survive short-term in your purse unless you're out in the sun somewhere & they heat up (the average temp in most offices, places of business, etc. are all fine). They definitely will not survive your pocket, as your body temp is approx 98.6 and way too hot for them. Again, I've had good luck with the shelf stable Jarrow probiotics and the EPS are easy and great to take along when traveling (unless you're going rugged style in hot places, then the above again applies). These are no different and would be easy to take along as well. They have the happy mood strains: This mix includes the probiotics most known for influencing mood, specifically anxiety and depression. Yes, having low numbers of these happy-bugs can increase your anxiety and drop your mood into the blues. Google it. In addition, moving in good bugs can help balance and decrease the bad bugs and candidas is one of the bad guys (a yeast) that can also negatively impact your mood, so probiotics in general can help on that end. Beyond the happy strains, all the included strains are those that have shown benefit to the digestive system (and other systems) in various studies. The challenge is that we are more microbe than human (again, google it - we have more microbe cells within & on our body than we do human cells) and there are millions of them and thousands of different strains. We've only begun to scrape the surface of what strains do what, which work well together in a synergistic manner, etc. So while 8 different strains are better than a single strain probiotic, we're still pretty kindergarten in our understanding and use of microbes for health. Both of these also have consistently reliable results from Consumer lab & I find them gentle for my stomach. So why do I like Jarrow better? Simply because they're shelf stable & I don't have to worry about keeping them cold in the fridge, were they properly shipped and stored wherever they've been before they got to me, etc

After concluding that my consistently soft stool was not a temporary condition, but one which indicated that something more serious might be affecting my digestive system, I began taking EPS. The symptom cleared up after taking 2-3 capsules a day for 3-4 days. I discontinued after a week after using up the small amount of EPS on hand. Unexpectedly, taking EPS also resolved another issue, excessive nighttime urination. The frequency had increased and this coincided with the soft stool. I didn't make the connection at the time. I have an enlarged prostate and my doctor increased the dosage of the meds I take for the urinary symptoms. The increased dosage did not improve the symptoms. These events occurred about 4 months ago. The symptoms reappeared recently and I began taking EPS again with the same result, the symptoms are gone. I haven't discussed this yet with my Doctor but I know that EPS is essential to me. If you take prescription medications regularly, you may find that EPS is right for you.
