Wonderful for acid reflux and IBS! I had severe IBS and acid reflux; the doctor prescribed me generic Previcid, but I still coughed and choked, especially after meals. This product has stopped all that. I will continue to buy it. I take one pill on an empty stomach in the morning and another before lunch and bedtime. Thank goodness for this!

Life saver while travelling! I took this daily during a three-week trip across Europe. I was with two people who caught a cold with an awful wet cough, but I never got sick. These probiotics kept my immune system strong and my digestion regular. I'm grateful for Jarrow and this amazing product.

VERY HELPFUL IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE! This stuff is fantastic. It helps with constipation—I've reduced my laxative intake. I previously took an expensive probiotic, but I prefer this one. I also incorporated digestive enzymes. Doctors had previously suggested prescription meds for acid reflux, causing me a persistent cough, but I doubted I had it. After making lifestyle changes and starting JARRO-DOPHILUS, my cough has vanished. I didn't choose it for my cough but it appears to have had a positive impact, along with those changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Coughing is a reflex action that helps clear the airways of mucus, irritants, or foreign particles. It is a natural mechanism the body uses to protect itself and can be triggered by various factors, including infections, allergies, or environmental irritants. There are two main types of coughs: acute coughs, which typically last less than three weeks and often result from a cold or respiratory infection, and chronic coughs, which persist for more than eight weeks and may indicate a more serious underlying condition.
Coughs can also be classified as dry or productive. A dry cough does not produce mucus, while a productive cough does. Treatment options depend on the underlying cause; over-the-counter medications, home remedies, or medical intervention may be recommended based on the severity and duration of the cough. If a cough is persistent, accompanied by other symptoms like fever, shortness of breath, or chest pain, it’s advisable to seek medical advice for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
Lactobacillus is a genus of bacteria that plays a crucial role in the fermentation of various foods and is found naturally in the human gut. Known for their probiotic properties, strains of Lactobacillus are commonly utilized in the production of yogurt, sauerkraut, and other fermented products. They are characterized by their rod-shaped structure and ability to convert sugars into lactic acid, which not only helps preserve food but also contributes to the tangy flavor of fermented foods.
In addition to their culinary uses, Lactobacillus bacteria can offer several health benefits. They are known to support gut health by enhancing the balance of beneficial bacteria in the microbiome, potentially aiding in digestion and alleviating symptoms of issues like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Regular consumption of Lactobacillus-containing foods or supplements may also bolster the immune system and improve overall digestive health. With a growing interest in gut health, Lactobacillus remains a key player in both dietary and therapeutic contexts.
The role of Lactobacillus in managing cough is not extensively documented, but some research suggests that probiotics, including Lactobacillus strains, can contribute to overall respiratory health. Probiotics are known to support the immune system and may enhance the body's natural defenses against infections that typically cause a cough, such as colds or respiratory tract infections. By maintaining a balanced gut microbiome, Lactobacillus may help reduce the frequency and severity of respiratory illnesses, indirectly benefiting those prone to coughing.
However, while the link between Lactobacillus and cough relief is not definitive, there is promise in integrating probiotics into your routine if you experience frequent respiratory issues. It's important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplements, especially if you are dealing with persistent or severe coughs. Incorporating Lactobacillus into a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may support overall health, so it's worth considering alongside other treatments.
