With my family history of cardiac issues, I try to be as careful as I can about eating right, exercising, and such. I've used Jarrow products in the past and gladly turns to them again. Unfortunately, taking this supplement interferes with my hypothyroidism. My doc thought that if I took this at night and my thyroid med in the morning that it might be okay, but unfortunately it wasn't so I immediately stopped this supplement. After some additional research, it turns out that L-Carnitine prevents your body's cells from absorbing thyroid hormones and that taking this supplement can wreck havoc with these levels and cause a person to experience hypothyroidism, which itself can cause heart palpitations, weight gain, and more. There apparently is some evidence that this supplement may help those with hyperthyroidism, though. In any event it's always best to check with your doc before taking any supplement, and always check with your doc if there's a side effect. Since L-Carnitine has been shown to be a thyroid hormone antagonist, it would be nice if Jarrow were to add this to the label or box or even product description here or on their website. The label says to check first with your doctor if taking any medications or if you have any health issues, but having the additional disclaimer that this can affect even normal thyroid levels would be a smart warning for people to be extra attentive to how they feel after starting this supplement.
Another problem that came up was somehow one or two of the capsules ruptured during shipping and the capsule contents ended up dripping down onto to capsules in the bottom third of the jar creating a wasteful, solidified mess of capsules. Not sure if the capsules got overheated during shipping or if they were tossed around so much that the capsules broke. There wasn't any cotton batting in the jar to help keep capsule movement down
