Phosphatidylserine beneficial for memory
We explored how phosphatidylserine (PS) affects memory in patients and rats with Alzheimer's disease. The study involved 57 patients split into control and treatment groups, while AD rats were given various doses of PS for 12 weeks.

Results showed that patients and treated rats improved memory scores and brain health significantly. The higher dose of PS was particularly effective in enhancing memory and reducing harmful brain inflammation.

Overall, phosphatidylserine appears promising as a treatment to boost memory function in Alzheimer's patients.

Potential dietary intervention for dementia
We investigated how dietary DHA-enriched phosphatidylserine (DHA-PS) might affect brain health in mice with dementia. Over a four-month study, we observed changes in lipid profiles after mice were fed high-fat and low-fat diets supplemented with DHA-PC and DHA-PS.

The results showed that the high-fat diet negatively impacted brain lipid levels. However, the supplementation effectively restored levels of important brain lipids in the dementia model. This suggests that DHA-PS could provide a promising dietary approach to support brain health.

Phosphatidylserine's potential in Alzheimer's
We studied how phosphatidylserine enriched with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) impacts Alzheimer's disease, particularly regarding amyloid-β (Aβ). Our findings revealed that DHA-PS effectively lowered Aβ production more than EPA-PS. Both forms provided significant protection to neurons against Aβ-induced toxicity. Notably, EPA-PS enhanced Aβ clearance in certain cell types. These results suggest phosphatidylserine could offer dietary strategies for Alzheimer's prevention and underline the importance of EPA and DHA in functional food development.

Nicotinamide nanoparticles improve cognition
We explored how nicotinamide, combined with phosphatidylserine in solid lipid nanoparticles, could improve cognitive function in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease. By using these specially engineered particles, we aimed to enhance the brain's ability to take in the medication more effectively than traditional methods.

The results were promising. The phosphatidylserine-functionalized nanoparticles significantly improved cognition and reduced harmful tau proteins. This innovative delivery method may offer a practical solution for helping those affected by early-stage Alzheimer's.

We examined how phosphatidylserine and curcumin affect memory, particularly in relation to Alzheimer's disease. In our study with day-old chicks, we found that higher doses of phosphatidylserine (37.9 mmol/l) and curcumin (2.7 mmol/l) notably improved memory retention when scopolamine-induced amnesia was present.

While lower doses were ineffective, our findings suggest that these treatments could serve as potential nontraditional memory enhancers for Alzheimer's. However, further research is needed to fully understand their impact on human subjects.

Unsaturated lipids may combat Alzheimer’s
We explored how unsaturated phosphatidylserine and other lipids influence amyloid β (Aβ) aggregation in Alzheimer's disease. Using advanced techniques, we discovered that these lipids significantly impeded the formation of harmful Aβ plaques and reduced their toxicity to cells.

This suggests that incorporating unsaturated phospholipids into our diets might help slow down the advancement of Alzheimer’s. The study opens up exciting possibilities for using these lipids in developing new therapies aimed at fighting this debilitating disease.

Supports disease progression
8 people found this helpful
Living in Australia, I face challenges as my partner has Alzheimer's. Doctors often dismiss my concerns regarding new treatments from the U.S. My husband has been on Phosphatidylserine for over two years, combined with other medications. While I cannot say it's miraculous, I believe it halts the disease's progression. Friends without Alzheimer reported sharper cognition while using it. It’s a good product, and I won’t be removing it from my husband’s regimen.
