What are the MOST important vitamins to take? Folate.
So I was doing research on multivitamins and the studies, and over and over I read that taking vitamins, for the most part, is simply completely ineffective and a waste of money. The exceptions to this rule were FOLIC ACID...and B vitamins...and I take a jarrow calcium supplement which seems to truly help bone density, according to many reviews in which the reviewer reported better test results after taking those. (that product is called BONE UP). Anyway, I do not know if I have a special need for folate... But I started these because it seems that most of us need it in our diets and do not get enough of the right kind. The studies do show that supplementing with folate or folic acid was one of the few exceptions where there was a measurable health benefit. I took my first pill yesterday... and could not figure out why I was so angry and on edge all day. LOL. Then later on in the evening, I read more in-depth about supplementing with this vitamin, and I found out that this is one of the side effects. So today, I bit off HALF, and let it dissolve under my tongue. And WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I feel more energetic and clear headed. No irritation. I took it with my morning coffee. I like this. I recommend only taking HALF. Or even LESS. This stuff can really have a powerful impact on ones mood, and the balance is very delicate. The right amount will give you an energy boost. Too much will send you into a very cranky, edgy, mood. Less is MORE, when it comes to this vitamin. Update: I never felt any real benefit from taking this, and it's likely because I do get enough on my high animal protein diet. BUT... I sent some to my 80 year old father several months ago because I read that it truly helps Gout. Dad has issues with Gout. He said that since his first dose of this product he has not had any more Gout... AT ALL. So... if you have issues with Gout definitely get this. He has it on auto order now
