I just got these delivered today and fed a few to our hens. They go NUTS. I have never seen them eat so fast or run so fast. It took them ONE FEEDING to recognize the bag. I've been out twice since and as soon as they see that green bag they start running for me. We've spent as long as an hour trying to get our chickens in the coop when we're heading out of town during the day and this is the answer. They will follow me anywhere I go holding this bag of mealworms. No more running around like idiots rounding up chickens to coop. Mealworms: I love you

Birds Love These Mealworms!

If you want to make the birds that visit your bird feeders happy, buy these mealworms! I got a lot of new species visiting my feeders and the regular birds showed up more. The mealworms don't smell terrible and the bag locks locks up easily for storage. My only complaint is birds love them so much they disappear fairly quick and I have to keep refilling the feeders, but that wasn't enough to lose a star. This is very good for Adult Bluebirds

Bluebirds will eat these mealworms provided you soak the worms in warm water for about 45 minutes. Also, every other bird and squirrels will eat them. Get a squirrel deflector for your feeder post!! Once the other birds find these mealworms, they will return. You will have to drive away deadbeat Cowbirds and thieving Bluejays, because they will quickly eat everything. To make sure your Bluebirds have a chance to feed, a second or third feeder will likely be necessary. Young birds that are still in the nest need much more moisture, so it is best to buy the live mealworms for them. The baby birds can only get their moisture from the food that the parents bring to them. Also, you need a birdbath / water supply for the adults, because they dehydrate from flying all day to care for their babies and the adults like to bathe. I put out a half cup of soaked worms three times every day. This is the cheapest way to feed the birds. I may add to this later

Kaytee Mealworms (also known as chicken crack)

There are some clever people out there who sell very small packages of these as "happy hen treats." And guess what? Chickens LOVE them! (okay actually when I introduced my chicken to freeze-dried meal worms I didn't want to buy Happy Hen Treats for the price they were sold at so I went to a pet food store and found out they also sell dried meal worms as treats for turtles, frogs, etc. My dog will actually lick up the crumbs that are left after my chicken eats them. Apparently a lot of animals like mealworms!) Well, since my house chicken is kind of a stubborn and spoiled thing that doesn't like to eat a lot of her actual CHICKEN food, these are one of many foods she gets instead. I like to be able to buy them in bulk because she will eat a pound of meal worms in a month (less if you let her, and a lot less if you lose track and the dog pushes her out of the way and she doesn't get any). These mealworms are great, and the fact that this vendor sells through Amazon Prime is even better. As a Prime member I'm not buying in bulk, paying more out of pocket for shipping (this one prices slightly higher, but is less when you add shipping in on the other 17-ounce packages) and waiting for two weeks. I pay for this and it ships and I get it in two days. AWESOME. I highly recommend these for your pets. The freeze-dried part means they are easier to store and less messy to feed, too. Definitely a five-star product

Blue birds love Kaytee Mealworms.

I put out a Blue Bird house 3 years ago and have had several broods. I keep these meal worms out everyday for my family of Bluebirds and they won't leave my property. If you want to enjoy the beauty and pleasure of Bluebirds, this is the product that will keep them home year after year

My hen is like family to me. She is nearly 8 years old and the Kaytee mealworms have contributed significantly to her health. We had a brutal winter and she molted in the middle of it. I know these saved her. I've tried giving her cheaper boonworms from my local Farm store but the Kaytees are the best. Other brands seem to crumble up into mealworms dust towards the bottom but these do not. Out of the dozen or so brands I've tried, Kaytees are the best. I highly recommend the

attracts variety of wild birds to feeder

I've been feeding birds for years, mainly suet, blackoil sunflower, peanuts and millet. The tiny expensive bags of mealworms were a luxury and I'd only put out a teaspoon or so a day. Now I've been buying the beautiful Kaytee worms since last fall and feel generous enough to put out a coffee scoop a day as the price is soooooo much better. I've actually seen Eastern Phoebe and the elusive bluebirds that have never before visited my feeders - both drop by daily now to get a morning treat. The other comers are mainly the house and carolina wrens and when babies were fledging, all my other frequent flyers ate them, too. (woodpeckers, titmice, etc) I hope Kaytee keeps this reasonable price indefinitely - they will keep a lot of happy customers

Really Great Value!!

I love this. I was paying around a dollar an ounce at the local farm store for a smaller bag of these; so this is a great bargain. I go thru a lot of them in the spring and early summer when the local robins are nesting and then feeding the fledglings. I mix them with the raisins in the feeder and the birds go crazy

Little Chickens Love Them!

Our little chickens are around a month old and still in the house. The bag of Kaytee dried mealworms and small grit arrived yesterday. I added some grit to their feeder and gave them some of the dry mealworms. They LOVE them! I'm already back to order more grit and mealworms so I don't run out of either product. They go crazy when I put some of the mealworms in their brooder and by adding the tiny grit to their feed, I can safely give them these nutritious treats and chickweed that I'm cleaning out of the garden beds. This is our first time with chickens and it makes me happy to know that they are happy. I'll be glad when they are old enough to move outside to their coop and run, but for now I want to make sure they get a good start and are as happy in their brooder as possible

Not a positive review. Our Robins did not eat this food.

This didn't work at all for what we wanted. My goal was to provide food for a nested robin family just outside our back door. I tried many presentations. In a nice new feeder, in an open-top dish, a bunch loose on the deck floor right below the nest, also nearby, and different loose on the ground nearby. I tried dry, and wet. The robins, both the mom and the dad wouldn't touch this food. Finally some wrens found them and gorged themselves on the bounty they were happy to find. Meanwhile 3 youngsters broke out of their shells, took the open beak posture day after day and mom and dad continued to fly by and hop right past the many piles of free food with mouths full of remotely found worms, bugs, and other soon to die creatures. I'll mix the rest of the bag with bird food for 'others' and it will be enjoyed by them, but not by the robins. Others have written positive reviews, I don't have a clue what I've done wrong, but I won't buy them again
