Quercetin shows potential benefitsAnti-inflammatory, wound healing and antioxidant potential of compounds from Dioscorea bulbifera L. bulbils.
We delved into the potential healing properties of Dioscorea bulbifera, a plant known in traditional medicine for treating inflammation and wounds. Various crude extracts and purified compounds were tested for their effects on wound healing, inflammation, and antioxidant activities.
Among the compounds, quercetin showed promising results as an anti-inflammatory agent, significantly reducing nitric oxide production. However, while quercetin and other compounds supported cell proliferation and migration, they did not conclusively establish their effectiveness for wound healing specifically.
This research reinforces the traditional use of Dioscorea bulbifera, providing insights for future studies on its medicinal properties.
