Selenium effects on chronic fatigue
Therapeutic Effect and Metabolic Mechanism of A Selenium-Polysaccharide from Green Tea on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Study's relevance to CFS improvement
We studied how selenium-polysaccharides (Se-TP) from green tea could improve chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) in a rat model. Our experiments revealed that Se-TP significantly enhanced levels of certain substances related to fatigue, indicating improved overall condition. However, while the treatment showed promise in restoring some metabolic markers, the overall efficacy in CFS management remains to be fully affirmed. The changes observed were tied to metabolic pathways involved in steroid hormone biosynthesis and other critical processes.

Selenium nanoparticles for chronic fatigue
Ultrasound-assisted preparation of sweet corn cob polysaccharide selenium nanoparticles alleviates symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Low relevance for CFS treatment
We explored how sweet corn cob polysaccharide selenium nanoparticles (U-SCPSeNPs) might help alleviate symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). In this study, we used mouse models to test the effects of these nanoparticles, which were created using an ultrasound-assisted method.

While the U-SCPSeNPs showed promise in improving energy production and enhancing gut microbiota, the results indicated no significant improvement in clinical symptoms of CFS. Thus, while interesting, the potential of selenium treatment for CFS remains unproven.

CoQ10 and selenium may benefit ME/CFS
Does Coenzyme Q10 Plus Selenium Supplementation Ameliorate Clinical Outcomes by Modulating Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Individuals with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Study highlights antioxidant role
We explored whether combining Coenzyme Q10 and selenium could improve outcomes for individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). In this study, 27 patients took an oral supplement for 8 weeks. While we noted improvements in overall fatigue severity and quality of life, sleep disturbances did not show any significant change. Additionally, we found increased antioxidant capacity and decreased inflammatory markers, indicating potential benefits. However, other key biomarkers did not show significant changes. Overall, this suggests that long-term supplementation might help some symptoms in ME/CFS.

Boosted energy
After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I opted for a natural approach, avoiding prescription thyroid medication. Going gluten-free and taking selenium improved my chronic fatigue syndrome and gave me back my energy. I've been on this supplement for nearly a year now, and my energy has returned, allowing me to run again! My blood work is better than in the past decade.

Increased energy
I took this complex based on a nutritionist's advice to address hypothyroidism, which had left me fatigued and weak. Almost immediately, I felt better; my chronic fatigue syndrome lessened, hair loss reduced, and my heartbeat stabilised. I recommend this essential vitamin for improved bodily function and well-being.
