Quercetin alleviates asthma symptoms
We explored how quercetin, a natural compound found in fruits and vegetables, can impact asthma symptoms. Using an ovalbumin-induced mouse model of asthma, we aimed to uncover whether quercetin can help inhibit a process known as ferroptosis, potentially offering a new therapeutic approach for asthma sufferers.

Our findings showed that quercetin effectively reduced inflammation in the asthmatic mice. Specifically, it lowered levels of inflammatory factors such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13—substances typically elevated during an asthma attack. Notably, we also observed that quercetin increased the levels of superoxide dismutase, an important antioxidant, while decreasing malondialdehyde and ferric ions that are associated with oxidative stress.

Additionally, quercetin appeared to boost the expression of key proteins involved in defending against oxidative stress, specifically SIRT1, Nrf2, and HO-1. This suggests that quercetin not only helps combat inflammation but may also protect against cellular damage within the lungs. Overall, our study indicates that quercetin holds promise as a beneficial treatment for asthma by addressing both inflammatory and oxidative stress pathways.

We explored the impact of quercetin, a natural plant compound, on asthma by testing its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in a controlled study with rats. Asthma was induced in the rats using a substance called ovalbumin, and they were divided into four groups: a control group, an asthma group treated with a saline solution, another asthma group treated with dexamethasone (a common asthma medication), and a group treated with quercetin.

After one week of daily injections of quercetin and dexamethasone, we noted significant changes in various biological markers. Quercetin appeared to lower the expression of several inflammatory factors linked to asthma, such as Gata-3 and TNF-α. It also positively influenced oxidative stress by reducing levels of malondialdehyde, a marker of cell damage, while boosting antioxidants in both the serum and lung tissue.

Our findings suggest that quercetin does more than just alleviate inflammatory responses; it also enhances the body's defenses against oxidative stress, particularly in the lungs. Overall, quercetin shows great potential as an effective treatment for asthma, helping to manage both inflammation and oxidative stress at the tissue level.

Quercetin improves asthma symptoms
We explored how quercetin, a natural compound, may help alleviate asthma symptoms. The focus was on its potential role regarding periostin, a protein linked to inflammatory responses in the lungs, and its interaction with the TGF-β1/Smad pathway, a key signaling system in asthma.

To gain insights, we constructed a model using mice sensitized to ovalbumin—an allergen that triggers asthma—and administered quercetin among other treatments. We carefully observed changes in inflammatory responses, airway remodeling, and hyperresponsiveness, using various tests and analyses to measure inflammation markers and proteins involved in airway fibrosis.

Our findings revealed that quercetin significantly reduced the levels of periostin and inhibited airway inflammation and fibrosis. It also showed a tendency to reduce airway hyperreactivity, suggesting that quercetin works through suppressing the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway.

Overall, our study supports quercetin as a promising candidate for asthma treatment, highlighting how it effectively targets specific pathways involved in the disease, offering a protective effect against its symptoms.

Liked it! I accept a little more, but I already liked it! I bought it at a discount, as the price of this brand is considerable. This seems to be just the right dose for me: 250; supplemented with 250 of bromelain from the same company bought separately. My breathing feels easier (full chest and clearer nasal passages) after 20 minutes. I take it twice daily. It aids blood vessel condition, reduces prostaglandin levels, and has antihistamine, antiplatelet, and anti-inflammatory effects. A friend of mine with bronchial asthma reported that it helped greatly with phlegm. I decided to buy from Now Foods with a larger dosage but experienced headaches, possibly due to an excessive dose. I'm pleased it helps with my asthma and overall health.

Quercetin aids asthma treatment
We explored the potential of quercetin, a key component of Bushenyiqi decoction (BYD), in treating asthma. Through a combination of network pharmacology and experimental validation, we examined its effects on asthma symptoms and the underlying mechanisms behind them.

Our research highlighted that BYD significantly improves airway responsiveness and decreases inflammation in allergic asthma mice. We identified quercetin, along with other active ingredients in BYD, as critical players in targeting specific genes related to asthma, particularly interleukin 6 (IL-6), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF1A).

The phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/AKT signaling pathway also emerged as crucial in this process. Our findings suggest that quercetin contributes to reducing inflammation and respiratory symptoms in asthma by regulating these targets.

Overall, this investigation underscores the importance of quercetin as a valuable element of BYD in mitigating asthma-related inflammation, providing new insights into traditional Chinese medicine's effective strategies.

We aimed to investigate the potential benefits of quercetin, a natural compound, in addressing airway hyperreactivity and inflammation in newborn rats exposed to high levels of oxygen. High oxygen environments often lead to lung injuries and increased airway sensitivity, mimicking some aspects of asthma.

To conduct this study, we divided young rats into groups exposed to either high oxygen or regular air for a week. Some of these groups received quercetin injections, while others did not. By measuring the contraction of tracheal smooth muscles in response to a specific chemical, we noted significant improvements in those treated with quercetin.

Specifically, quercetin reduced the excessive contraction observed in the high-oxygen groups and restored relaxation in the muscles, suggesting a protective effect. We also found that quercetin treatment lowered inflammation markers in the lungs, which is significant, given that inflammation often exacerbates asthma symptoms.

Overall, our findings indicate that quercetin could play a valuable role in managing airway hyperreactivity and associated inflammation, presenting a promising avenue for future therapies aimed at young patients with similar breathing issues.

Quercetin's potential in asthma treatment
Our investigation centered on how quercetin, a component of the Suhuang antitussive capsule—an herbal remedy used in traditional Chinese medicine—affects asthma. The Suhuang formula, known for its use in treating cough variant asthma, combines various herbs, creating a multi-ingredient treatment that poses challenges in isolating individual components.

Through our analysis using in vivo rat models, we observed significant interactions between quercetin and target genes associated with inflammation, specifically those active in the IL-17 signaling pathway. These interactions suggest that quercetin might help reduce lung inflammation when battling asthma symptoms.

We identified important compounds like quercetin and luteolin, revealing their potential therapeutic roles in this context. However, since quercetin is just one part of a larger herbal blend, the full extent of its isolated effects on asthma still requires further exploration. Overall, while the results are promising, they remind us of the complexities involved in understanding traditional herbal treatments and their specific mechanisms.

Quercetin reduces asthma inflammation
We explored the potential of quercetin, a natural compound found in many fruits and vegetables, to alleviate symptoms of asthma, particularly in cases characterized by neutrophilic inflammation. Our research focused on its effects on ferroptosis, a form of regulated cell death that plays a role in lung inflammation.

Using a model of neutrophilic asthma, we examined how quercetin compares to ferrostatin-1, a known ferroptosis inhibitor. What we found was encouraging: quercetin showed similar benefits to ferrostatin-1 in reducing airway inflammation.

Our detailed analysis revealed that quercetin treatment not only improved cell viability but also increased levels of protective antioxidant proteins that combat oxidative stress, while decreasing harmful substances associated with inflammation. Moreover, we noted that the inflammation was tied to the M1 macrophage polarization, a pro-inflammatory response, which quercetin effectively inhibited.

Overall, this suggests that quercetin could be a promising therapeutic option for managing neutrophilic airway inflammation in asthma, potentially offering relief for those suffering from this chronic condition.
