Selenium intake boosts lung function
This study explored how selenium intake relates to lung function in people with asthma. We analyzed data from 4,541 participants in a national survey using various statistical methods. Our findings showed a positive connection between higher selenium intake and better lung function, particularly in forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume. We noted that to potentially enhance respiratory health, asthma patients could benefit from consuming between 137.65 mcg and 200 mcg of selenium daily, while also being cautious of any adverse effects.

Selenium may benefit asthma treatment
We explored the potential benefits of organic selenium (Pro-Se) compared to inorganic selenium (IOSe) in treating asthma in mice exposed to ovalbumin. After oral administration, we noticed that Pro-Se significantly increased selenium levels and improved antioxidant enzyme activity. Additionally, it reduced levels of pro-inflammatory markers like TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta, while influencing NF-kB activation. This study suggests that organic selenium could be a promising new treatment for childhood asthma, though this needs further research to confirm its effectiveness in humans.

We aimed to investigate whether a diet rich in selenium could alleviate the health impacts of chronic arsenic exposure in Bangladesh. In a carefully controlled trial involving 405 participants, those consuming selenium-enriched lentils showed a significant reduction in asthma and allergy symptoms compared to those on a low-selenium diet.

The results revealed higher levels of arsenic excretion and improved overall health indicators in the selenium group. This suggests that selenium not only helps with arsenic detoxification but also potentially offers relief from asthma.

Good selenium! When you are under 50, you become more mindful of your health. I am grateful to the IHERB store for a vast selection of high-quality dietary supplements, which include this product. The composition is an excellent balance of selenium and vitamin E to cover daily deficiencies. I take two courses a year and always include iodine. I have bronchial asthma and noticed that after taking this supplement, my asthma attacks decreased. The effect is positive!

Prenatal selenium exposure and allergies
We aimed to understand how prenatal exposure to selenium, alongside mercury and manganese, affects the risk of allergic diseases in children up to three years old.

Using data from nearly 95,000 mother-infant pairs from the Japan Environment and Children's Study, we discovered that selenium might help lower the risk of atopic dermatitis, food allergies, allergic rhinitis, and other allergic conditions, particularly when mercury exposure is low.

This suggests that maintaining a healthy level of selenium during pregnancy may be beneficial for children's health regarding allergies.

We evaluated the effectiveness of supplements containing vitamin D, selenium, and other trace elements in patients suffering from moderate to severe asthma. In a clinical trial with 70 participants, we administered either Asmavit syrup or vitamin D3 drops alongside regular asthma treatment for two months.

While both groups showed improvement in lung function and quality of life, we found no significant difference in cytokine levels after treatment. Interestingly, higher selenium and folic acid levels before treatment linked to disease severity. Overall, our findings point to vitamin D as a valuable addition to standard asthma therapies.

Relieves asthma symptoms
Selenium is a special supplement. It is optimally absorbed with vitamin E, so taking them together is advisable. Selenium combats atherosclerosis, has anti-cancer properties, alleviates chronic fatigue syndrome, and strengthens the immune system. The capsule size and dosage from this company are ideal. However, it's crucial not to take selenium continuously without a doctor's advice, as excessive selenium can harm the body, just as a deficiency can.

Reduces asthma symptoms
A wonderful working complex! I chose this particular complex because it contains three forms of selenium and vitamin E. The human body cannot produce selenium on its own; therefore, it is necessary to obtain it from food. Selenium is an important antioxidant that protects cells from aging and is beneficial for asthmatics. Especially in winter, it is essential to monitor selenium levels, as it helps prevent both viral and bacterial infections and reduces inflammation in the body. It is convenient to take just one capsule per day, and I take selenium with iodine for better absorption.

Selenium levels linked to asthma severity
We explored the levels of Selenium, Zinc, and total antioxidants in Nigerian children aged 2-15 with asthma compared to their non-asthmatic peers. The results showed that the children with asthma had significantly lower levels of these important nutrients.

While Selenium levels were associated with the severity of asthma, they did not appear to relate to how well symptoms were controlled. This indicates that while supplementation might improve overall health, it may not directly enhance asthma symptom management for these children.

We assessed the effects of maternal selenium levels during pregnancy on childhood respiratory health, particularly focusing on asthma and wheezing risks in children. Measuring selenium in the blood of 861 mothers, we followed their children from birth to age three.

Our findings reveal that while higher maternal selenium may lower the chances of wheezing by age one and three, it does not appear to prevent asthma, allergic rhinitis, or atopic dermatitis. Thus, selenium may help with wheezing but not with all asthma-related conditions.
