McCormick Original Chili Seasoning Mix, 22 oz

FULL OF FLOUR FOR FILLER! NOT CHILI POWDER!

OMG!! I did q quick search for chili POWDER and since I generally buy McCormick spices, clicked to order this item. BEWARE!! The item description is MISLEADING!!! In fact, I consider it fraudulent! It is NOT chili POWDER but "chili SEASONING MIX"!! The ingredients on the container say ""chili pepper and other spices, ENRICHED WHEAT FLOUR, onion, salt & garlic". I wondered why the color was soooo much lighter than the any other chili powder...it's full of cheap flour! I can't and won't use this in my award-winning chili, it's a very very misleading item description because they list only spices on the website and say NOTHING ABOUT ALL THE FLOUR FILLER IN IT! Plus I am angry that I searched specifically for "chili powder" and got "chili seasoning" - how did THAT happen?? Just buy chili powder and add cheap flour to it if you want this kind of crap

So Handy

Ive made chili with this many times and everyone ALWAYS asks for my recipe. I love this container specifically because you can add the exact amount you need. You can also use the mix in other foods... Tacos need a little more flavor? Sprinkle some on! Ive also mixed this with BBQ and coated it on chicken wings. So handy

The Best Chili Seasoning!

I've tried all of the chili seasonings and McCormick is definitely the best. McCormick Chili seasoning makes the best chili that I've ever tasted. I've even tried making it from scratch with chili powder and it wasn't half as good as McCormick seasoning. It's so easy to whip up a batch of delicious chili with these packets. I make it in my crockpot and it takes very little time to assemble the ingredients, especially if you've already cooked the ground beef in advance. You just empty some cans of diced tomatoes and kidney beans into the crockpot. Add the cooked ground beef and McCormicks seasoning and you'll have an economical and delicious dinner that makes the whole house smell great. I was excited when I saw Amazon started carrying this product in a 24 pack box. My local stores charge up to $2 for each packet. When I make chili, I usually make a huge pot that requires 3 seasoning pouches. When you buy the packets at full price, it can really add up. I'm stocked up on my favorite chili seasoning now. I've got enough packets to make about 8 big pots of Chili this winter. I will continue to purchase this item from Amazon as long as they carry it for such a good price. With subscribe and save, I paid about 1/2 of what I'd pay in the regular grocery store

An idiot-proof chili base.

Solid blend of spices, not too salt heavy, works great with beef or chicken. If you want to dial the heat up, throw in some red pepper flake, dried ancho chilis, pickled jalapenos, or canned chilis in adobo. If you want more aromatics, add some cumin or sautè some onions and peppers. If you're in a rush, just toss meat, beans, tomato sauce, and this and you've got chili in about 20 minutes. You really can't go wrong with this as a starter

This is NOT the same as the original!

If anyone is looking for the Mc Chili Power they have used for years and years this is NOT it. You know the dark rich one that made your chili fabulous. Nope. McCormick has changed it to something you will not recognize:( IDK how it taste I wasn't about to use it. I see there is a dark gourmet one that looks same. I'm returning this one for sure

Greatest Chili discovery ever!

Ok - I just found out how much this stuff rules a few weeks ago when I had the most basic, easy chili ever and it was all due to this powder. I immediately ordered the 22 oz container. A LOT of the powder, lean ground turkey, canned chili beans and a big can of stewed tomatoes. Sounds boreing as my normal chili is a ton of work, fresh everything, dry beans, etc. The only problem is that this tastes a lot better.....everyone agreed

Yummy chili

This stuff is my secret recipe. I usually make big pots of chilli so instead of going through 2 pouches I just buy a big container. Of course I add a few extra items but this is the perfect base flavor

Perfect?

Probably not perfect. Look, I'm no chili connoisseur, but I've been making chili using nothing but beef, beans, tomatoes and this chili seasoning mix. Well, and a lot of simmering! :-) And it tastes terrific! Not a lot of heat so if you want that you'll have to add it. Thickens nicely if you're careful with the water and watch it while it's on the stove. Almost foolproof! Seriously, I really like this stuff and wouldn't like to run out of it. I'll be buying more when this runs out! Oh, and their recipe can be found on some of their packages and on their website

NOT CHILI POWDER, but seasoning mix

If you're like me and read the giant “CHILI” and not the tiny “seasoning mix” then be warned, THIS IS NOT CHILI POWDER. Do not use it to refill your empty chili powder container. The results will be bad. At first we thought I'd refilled it with taco seasoning mix. They look very similar. I was about to complain to Amazon that the chili powder bottle had taco seasoning in it but then I read the label. I suggest you read the label too. The fault was mine, but I'm giving McCormick 1 star for expecting us to notice such tiny print. It may work on a grocery store shelf where products are side by side, but on Amazon we don't easily see the difference

When it is chili outside, it is time for chili inside!

We were tired of using the little packets that never had quite enough seasoning in them. With the McCormick's 22 oz container, we can adjust the amount of seasoning to the amount of ingredients we use. We make chili regularly and with this seasoning it is super simple. We simply throw cooked ground beef, 2 cans of Brooks chili beans, a can of petite diced tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce, and this seasoning and we are good to go! It couldn't be any easier. If we are feeling crazy we'll have our chili on top of angel hair pasta just to push the boundaries. While it is best to have chili when it is chili, we have it year round
