Metamucil, Daily Psyllium Husk Powder Supplement, 3-in-1 Fiber for Digestive Health, Plant Based Fiber, 300ct Capsules

This bottle is huge!

First off, these really help my digestive system stay smooth and regular. I take a minimal amount, just five capsules at bedtime. One tricky thing about these is that you can't take them too close to your medication as they can absorb the medication and lower its effectiveness. Just taking those five at night works well for me though. The reason I wanted to write this review though is that I really like this size bottle. It's 300 capsules, which is pretty huge. In the past, I have ordered Metamucil Daily Fiber Supplement, Psyllium Husk Capsules, 160 Capsules (Pack of 2) and that lasts a while too, but this big 300 count bottle is nice to have just one big bottle that will last a good long while. If you have an "irregularity' or problems with your digestive system this is a good, gentle option to get things back on track. Of course, it's probably a good idea to run this by a doctor before you start taking it, but every doctor I have asked tells me that psyllium husk is a very safe, gentle option

It does what it is supposed to do

It seems that as I age, more and more of my body decides to change as well. Now I need meta-Meusel to help me throughout the week or else it will be a very painful weekend. I tried it for several weeks and I just found that it did nothing. I explained to my wife that this wasn't working for me and she said no you have to take four pills at a time, twice a day. So I decided to give it one more chance, but I was unable to take 10 pills per day. Not that I couldn't swallow the pills or or stand the taste of them, I just figured that if I took less I won't be rushing home to use the bathroom. So I decided on four pills a day, two in the morning and two at night, and within a week this time it finally worked and I was pretty much back to normal. Over the last several months I've been taking it religiously every day, four pills a day. Last month I started to run low so I decided to try three pills a day one of the morning at two at night and I've seen that nothing has changed in my daily routine, so there's no reason as far as I'm concerned, for myself now and this is only for me, but I don't believe that I need 10 pills a day. Three pills a day workes just fine. I have yet to have had an incident where I almost didn't make it home, it doesn't work like that. When I was very very constipated after one of my surgeries they told me to go home and drink prune juice and I happen to love prune juice, so I drank a cup of it, or maybe more. That night I thought that demons were escaping my body. So I was a little afraid that the meta-Meusel would do the same thing, but after six months now possibly of taking this or just about six months, I haven't had any issues, no close calls and I'm able to go to the bathroom and I've actually lost a couple of pounds and my cholesterol has gone down. The only thing is my sugar I have diabetes so it's not really helping, but other than that, this is one of the easiest products to use. You just take the pill, they're a little large but I take so many pills for medical reasons that these are kind of considered midsize compared to some of the stuff I take. I do recommend this to anybody who has any kind of problems using the bathroom. Sitting for hours waiting for something to happen, or something more nefarious than that. But if I'm going to rate it. I will give it a five for 90 percent of the reaction the pill gives to me. I'm taking off one star because you have to take so many pills as far as they're concerned, for it to work. So I feel like that somebody's trying to get people to buying more. I just can't do that so I tweaked it until I found the perfect amount. like I said, three per day. One in the morning two at night and about once a day or once every day and a half I will have a perfect bowel movement. No pain, pressure, strain, no blood no negative comments or negative effects. So if you having trouble, I would run out and purchase this as soon as possible. expect to give it a week for it to really really work and drink some water with it. The more you drink, obviously the better it's going to be. I guzzle mine down with the 32 ounces of water again I haven't had a problem since I've been taking them. Just so you know my constipation is caused by medication's, pain medication plus all the other medication's that are keeping me going, so it's a very difficult constipation to break and these pills cut through it like a hot knife through butter

It is A LOT of pills

The recommended dose is 5 pills up to 5 times per day. That is VERY hard to manage. I settled on 5 pills 3 times per day just because it was easier to manage and it did actually work. I've been on medication for years that caused a constipation problem and it only just recently occurred to me to try this, no idea why it took so long to think of it. Given that taking 15 giant pills per day was hard to keep up with, I switched to the powder packets that you put in a bottle of water. The dose ends up being a little bit more fiber by drinking 2 bottles of water with 1 packet in each and is so much easier to keep up with day after day. Highly recommend Metamucil overall, but I would definitely go with the powder over the pills

Best product for digestion and bowel issues.

I am 31 years old and have always had problems with my stomach and bowel movements. I have tried senna stool softener dietary changes dringing grape juice etc. I recently started to make regular exercise and eating healthy a habit, cardio strength training spaghetti squash etc. On a whim I decided to give adding fiber to my diet a chance. I do not eat bread and pasta etc, causes me stomach pain and distended abdomen. I started taking Metamucil 5 capsules 4 times a day that is the healthy blood sugar dose. I immediately saw improvement. I did not even know I could have two formed bowel movements 1 a day. I usually have constipation or the opposite of constipation. My stomach pains upset is practically nil now. This has improved my mood significantly. Also has curbed my binge eating and over eating significantly. I am one of those people who always feels hungry even though I just ate. Metamucil put an end to that. I actually feel full. Which is uncomfortable but I am not used to the sensation yet. This product has changed my life. It is psyllium husk so it does not bother me like wheat bread products. The capsules have no flavour and are clear. One capsule is about the size of two 100mg Tylenol. Take with water. I sometimes do not eat after I take them. The rare times I have an after taste it is not even bad, like I just had a slice of untoasted plain wheat bread. Buy the big bottle! You will use it. PS I actually exited out of Amazon Prime before publishing, the product is so good I typed the review twice

Good-bye constipation!

If you want to regulate your system, this is the answer. Took about 3 days to really get into my system. This is soluble fiber, so it moves through your system at about 1/3 the speed of non-soluble fiber. So if you're taking this in anticipation of a surgical procedure where the prescribed meds will bogg you down, start taking it 3, or preferrably even 4 days before the procedure. Get a constant supply coursing through your digestive system. If you struggle with constipation or loose bowel movements, you need this product. Not only will it soften your stool, and lube your inner parts for easy and consistent evacuation- but it will also help solidify very loose bowel movements if you have IBS or some other condition that gives you chronic diarrhea. It created a happy medium between the two. It's very important to drink LOTS of water when you take this product. If you don't, it will become like a plug instead of helping alleviate constipation. I take 5 capsules int he morning following breakfast, and 5 more in the evening after dinner. My system has become like clockwork! Several movements in the morning, and usually a nice movement in the latter afternoon. I feel light and frisky afterwards- like when your dog flicks it's back legs after dropping a deuce in your neighbors yard. I highly recommend these. 5 stars

Gave to my cat

My cat (the bigger black one) has horrible diarrhea, so my vet suggested giving this to her. I just pop open some tablets and sprinkle it on her food. She doesn't like the powder on her nose, but it has significantly improved the smell in my house, lol. The pills are small, so if you're taking it yourself you should be able to swallow easily. Or you can pop them open and sprinkle it on your food

Regular, good poops!!!!

I wish I wasn't about to sound like one of those rave reviews that sounds fake but here we go anyways. I've been struggling with BMs that we're loose and hard to clean afterwards. Tried all sorts of cleanses and probiotics thinking they'd help. Nothing did, then I tried this, and within a day the issues I'd been having for well over a year cleared up instantly. I'm very happy

Works very well

My husband and I take Metamucil twice daily and it works very well to keep us regular. He tends to be on the loose end of the bowl spectrum and I on the more constipated side, but it works great for both of us. We've tried other store brands of psyllium products and Metamucil works the best

MISLEADING

I did my research so carefully, I specifically bought this exact one because its supposed to be the best at preventing constipation specifically, but no one ever tells you two different issues with this theory. One, if your constipation is caused by a slow moving bowel, from medication side effects for example, then fiber supplements in general can just make everything worse. Two, this can be either caused or compounded by the capsules specifically for whatever reason. Now let me tell you the horror story from this product. I took it EXCATLY as directed. I did not get lazy and skip directly to taking multiple capsules. I did not skimp on my water intake while taking them. I DO exercise daily. I got to the point after taking them that I had not gone to the bathroom at all in at least a week, and not satisfactorily for at least two, maybe more. They had me so clogged up that I had to take strong laxatives for 3-4 days to work out the clot, and even then I was pretty messed up for several weeks after that. My doctors tell me some people can have this reaction with the capsules specifically. Side note: even if this product was a miracle worker, it's still FAR too expensive. Misleadingly so, I believe. They make sure the pill count is high, but then they recommend taking sooooooooo many at one time. It's insane

NO MORE GAGGING

Loose fiber used with water or juice as part of a constipation help makes me shudder and gag to drink. As it goes down I always feel like it might come right back up. Finally I was tried these capsules instead of the loose fiber. It was like a gift to my system. Yes,the capsules cost a little more but they ares truly worth it. Caution: Take one at a time with water. I took 2 in one gulp once and the pills stuck together in my throat. I thought I was going to have to give myself the Heimlich maneuver -- but I drank a bunch of hot water and finally they went down. I'll never do that again! Take my word for it: you might find that Metamucil CAPSULES makes solving your problem much, much easier
