After inhaling wildfire smoke in fall 2017, my husband developed RADS, a serious reactive airways syndrome. Always use it, always will…

We usually use the regular Mucinex UNLESS there is a cough involved. Then, even at the very onset of a cold or the flu, Mucinex DM is our choice. If you check the ingredients, it is the same as Delsym but a lot more convenient to use since there's no measuring involved. And, I think (just my opinion) that it is cheaper in the long run than Delsym. We sometimes use this only at night since that is when coughing is more prevalent, and use the regular Mucinex during the day if not too much coughing is involved. Used together, as a team, they really prevent mucus build up in the head and chest and help a lot to alleviate coughing

It does its job remarkably well

This medicine not only reduces coughing, but it also helps loosen up any phlegm that you have in your chest making it easier to cough it up. Make sure that you drink an adequate amount of liquid when taking this medication. The medication can't loosen up the phlegm if you don't drink enough water to thin out the secretions. This is a medication with sustained action over 12 hours. One could easily describe the size of this tablet as a “horse pill.” Because of the nature of this being a sustained release medication, you aren't supposed to break or crush up this tablet to make it easier to swallow. If you're unable to swallow a large tablet then cough syrup might be what you need instead. I hate taking pills often, and that's the reason I prefer this medication. I prefer taking 1 pill every 12 hours as opposed to taking medicine every 4-6 hours. This medication works well, but sometimes one may have a cough that is so bad that they may require an additional prescription medication to be taken in conjunction with this medication. This is a great medication to keep on hand during cold, flu, & allergy season, and the COVID-19 pandemic

A key part of my battle against post nasal drip symptoms

This is what my doctor has me taking daily. I have horrible post nasal drip leading to constant clearing of my throat an coughing. The post nasal drip also tickles my throat in a way that causes me to start coughing. This inflames my chest wall. Mucinex is a key part of my battle against these issues. It definitely keeps me breathing easier. It also means I'm less likely to get sinus infections to which I am prone. So I highly recommend it. The tablets are large. I do manage to swallow them. I use soda water. This helps me for some reason. If you can't handle the bigger pills, get two of the smaller pills or see if you figure out how to get extended relief in some form you can handle. It is a big help

Best Product and Best Price Available…

When it comes to cold and allergy relief, Mucinex Maximum Strength DM Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets are the best product on the market and Amazon's price is the best I have found. The pharmacist recommended Mucinex Maximum Strength DM Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets for my husband when he was suffering from an upper respiratory problem that resulted in significant drainage and its related coughing. The product was very effective and did not "hype" him the way sudafed does. I tried Mucinex Maximum Strength DM Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets when I began coming down with a cold, which for me, usually results in a more severe upper respiratory infection and the need for antibiotics. As a result, the cold never progressed to an infection. Additionally, I never became so congested that I was unable to breathe comfortably; I was also able to sleep at night without waking up having to cough up accumulated mucus. My biggest complaint about Mucinex Maximum Strength DM Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets was the cost - even at the big warehouse stores, the price was at least 20% higher than on Amazon. I chose to purchase Mucinex Maximum Strength DM Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets directly from Amazon even though some of the Amazon partners had lower prices. I know that I will receive a product that is not nearing expiration and that if there is a problem, Amazon will make it right quickly. A Cough Drop Does More Than This!

After following the instructions and going through 14 tablets, I can say this did absolutely nothing! For both mucus and coughs, a Hall's cough drop does more. While having the same ingredients but in lower doses, Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough and Chest Congestion DM Max (or even a store brand max DMs) works FAR better than this. I cannot explain why that is. One would think that more of the same ingredients would equate to being more effective and that's the reason I purchased this. Well, nix that idea as that is not the case with this. I am perplexed by the positive reviews here. This was so ineffective that I contacted Mucinex customer service concerned that, as has reportedly been known to happen on this site, I may have received a fraudulent product. After one e-mail contact went unanswered, a second received a nonsensical, generic answer that totally ignored what I was asking. A follow-up e-mail to that has not received a reply to date. At this point I am of the opinion that this company is absolutely useless and their primary concern is profit with little regard for customer service. Everyone's experience is different and this was mine

MucinexDM Maximum Strength is the ONLY medication that stops my daytime and NIGHT TIME Asthma cough. It is more effective than any prescription medications for cough. It is more effective in managing my asthmatic cough, including cough medications that include narcotics. Check with your health care provider. If they give you the thumbs up, Give it a try

it works!

I have winter allergies that cause me to cough.......constantly. A dry unproductive cough. Couldn't function during the day, couldn't sleep at night. Was on numerous other medications that didn't address the problem. My doctor suggested that I add Mucinex DM to the mix. It worked. I finally got some relief, and some sleep. I highly recommend
