We investigated how zinc might play a role in alleviating the constipation effects caused by granisetron, a medication often used to prevent nausea. In the studies, male rats were treated with varying doses of granisetron, alongside zinc protoporphyrin IX (ZnPPIX), to see how these compounds interacted.
Interestingly, while granisetron was found to increase the time to first defecation in the rats, ZnPPIX alone did not have a notable effect on constipation. However, when combined with granisetron, ZnPPIX successfully reversed the constipation induced by this medication. This suggests that zinc, acting through the heme oxygenase/carbon monoxide (HO/CO) pathway, could potentially mitigate constipation.
Nonetheless, it’s crucial to note that ZnPPIX’s effectiveness was only observed when paired with granisetron; its standalone administration didn’t significantly alter gastrointestinal motility. This highlights a specific interaction rather than a general benefit of zinc in treating constipation.

Done with Miralax. My 8-year-old has been taking these and can finally poop like a normal child. After years on Miralax for chronic constipation without improvement, and despite dietary changes, these gummies have been a complete game changer. Within a week, she no longer experienced constipation or the need for MiraLax-induced diarrhoea. I'm incredibly pleased, and they taste like candy!

Best vitamin with probiotics for kids with bowel issues. My 10-year-old has dealt with eczema and constipation (which I've read are often linked) for years. This product encourages regular bowel movements, leading to her happiness and improved health. After using various solutions in the past, this has been the most effective. She loves the taste of the gummies and has been taking them for 2 or 3 years now.

Decent. My toddler enjoys these to the extent that he always asks for more. They taste good but are somewhat harder than expected; nonetheless, they are edible. He has struggled with constipation since birth, and these seem effective in helping to loosen things.
