Biotin treatment mitigates rash symptoms
This study looked at children with partial biotinidase deficiency to understand its effects and inheritance. While many were healthy at diagnosis, we found that one child developed skin rash, hair loss, and muscle weakness—symptoms that improved following biotin treatment.

Notably, other family members also displayed partial deficiency without symptoms, but one adult had minor issues that were alleviated with biotin. Overall, while most individuals are symptom-free at birth, this research suggests that biotin therapy could be beneficial for preventing future complications.

Works! Hair loss ceased on the fifth day of biotin intake! I do not understand how this is possible, but it is a fact. I have an autoimmune condition (focal baldness), and the battle to retain my hair is ongoing; now IT is my salvation! I have no rashes on my face in the form of small spots, I feel fine, and I am unsure how biotin will affect my nails after just five days. However, it is evident that it has quickly become my favourite!

Significant rash reduction
1 people found this helpful
I liked the biotin as it provided a greater effect on my skin than I anticipated. The rash noticeably decreased by 90%. While my nails did become stronger, they resisted any coatings. This is a high-strength dosage, more suitable for therapeutic effects. I saw results within a week, and after 2 weeks, it's best to reduce to a lower dose every 3 days to maintain results.

Repeated rashes
This biotin caused skin rashes; I stopped taking it several times but returned to it each time. However, the rashes consistently recurred.

Rashes significantly reduced
This biotin (Vitamin B7) is of excellent quality, halting hair loss effectively, with a suitable dosage of 10,000 per tablet. It truly works, along with reducing rashes on my skin, and it accelerates hair growth. When combined with vitamin D3, omega, and collagen, the effects are super.
9
Rashes subsided
During my entire use of biotin, I experienced no gastrointestinal discomfort or allergic reactions. I've read online that it should be taken at night for better absorption, and I did so. After realising that higher doses could cause rashes, I began to halve the pills, extending the course, which resulted in everything returning to normal. I noticed my hair stopped falling out significantly.
2
Rash and itching experienced
1 people found this helpful
This is the first biotin that didn't suit me. We thought that a higher dosage would be better, but it resulted in too much vitamin content, leading to reactions starting with a rash and itchiness of my skin. A lower dosage is required.
2
Stopped usage due to rash
After a few days, my skin began to itch, so I refrained from taking it again. I developed a rash; falling asleep became difficult. It may be due to the high dosage. Once I stopped, the itching ceased, so I won't be consuming it any longer.
We evaluated two premature twin infants who experienced serious health issues due to riboflavin and biotin deficiencies. They presented with skin rash and other severe complications while receiving prolonged parenteral nutrition.

After starting biotin and riboflavin supplementation, the surviving twin showed significant improvement within a few days. Remarkably, the rash and other clinical signs improved, allowing him to be discharged in stable condition.

This case highlights the positive impact of biotin on rash resolution in the context of vitamin deficiencies.

Biotin treatment shows effectiveness
We examined a rare case of a 3-year-old boy who faced severe respiratory distress and a persistent rash due to biotinidase deficiency. Initially, the symptoms were typical but progressed to include restlessness and mental decline over two years. After a detailed examination, we diagnosed him with this uncommon condition and began treatment with supplemental biotin. Remarkably, he responded well to the treatment, highlighting biotin's role in addressing the rash and other symptoms associated with this metabolic disorder.

Biotin supplementation improves rash symptoms
We explored how valproic acid (VPA), a common treatment for seizures, influences biotin levels and skin rashes in children. In our study with 75 young patients, we discovered that VPA can lower biotinidase activity, leading to dermatological issues like rashes and hair loss.

Interestingly, when we supplemented these patients with biotin, we observed improvements in their skin lesions. This indicates that while VPA may cause side effects related to biotin deficiency, biotin treatment can help manage these reactions effectively.
8
Biotin shows variable rash improvement
We investigated the effects of biotin therapy on patients suffering from a rare condition affecting holocarboxylase formation. Among the five patients, four showed a significant improvement in their rashes with doses ranging from 10 to 20 mg daily.

However, one patient required a much higher dose of 100 mg daily for her skin rash to improve. While biotin was effective in alleviating some symptoms, it did not completely resolve all clinical issues for everyone involved in the study. We concluded that biotin can help with rashes in certain cases, but the benefits vary greatly among individuals.

Biotin improves rash and seizures
We explored the effects of biotin treatment on a young boy diagnosed with biotinidase deficiency, which presented with neurological issues and a skin rash. Upon administration of 20 mg of biotin daily, we observed a significant and rapid improvement in both his clinical condition and biochemical markers, leading to the cessation of antiseizure medications. Importantly, despite the presence of a rash, biotin showed clear efficacy in improving the patient's overall health without developmental delays by 18 months.
