I can not believe I waited so long to try this!
My 4.5 year old stopped napping at 15 mo. and her hourly sleep has been about 7-8 hours, which might sound good but kids really need 10 hours for development. I have followed the same strict sleep schedule as my previous child: soothing bath at 7, snack by 7:30, brush hair and teeth and read bedtime books and tucked in by 8. But my child will happily, and quietly, play in her bed until 11 if I didn't get gruff with her to " Go to BED!" Which I hate being mean right before falling asleep. It got so upsetting that I thought she needed therapy... which was lovely, but it didn't do anything to help her sleep. I am a recovering addict of 18 years, so the thought of drugging my toddler was a *pardon the pun* hard pill to swallow. But as she's gotten older the lack of quality sleep had really begun to weigh heavily on her. She became more moody, easily upset, aggressive, and defiant. Which lead to an unpleasant time for all of us. So I did my research, spoke with her doctor, and came to the conclusion that melatonin is a safe option for her. This particular gummy tastes really good (she actually hates the texture of gummies... so it's a big deal that she happily eats it) and it works REALLY FAST! I give it to her at 7:50 and by 8:05 she is dead asleep. I saw some people comment that they're kids don't stay asleep...but that's a different issue and melatonin isn't for staying asleep... it's for falling asleep. I also saw a comment that the bottle was mostly empty??? Mine came about 2/3 full (which is appropriate to other similar products). It's only been a week...but it's been truly life changing and I feel like a bit of a failure not doing this sooner
