Read carefully
So it turns out I have a mustard allergy. Strange, right? Well not so much. I'd never had a problem before. I happen to like mustard and will miss it. My allergist said mustard is one of the top five Allergies! It is a very common allergy in Europe and in French children it is currently the fourth most common, so I guess not so strange after all (and I am part French so it does make sense). Canada is excellent by the way since it's 5th most common there and they're very vigilant on labeling everything. There is no random "spices" there. It has to state mustard unlike here (which has been something of a mess requiring me to call several companies to check!)! And I'm not just a little allergic, like oh, a few hives, but I'm supposed to walk around with an epipen and be super cautious because I'm THAT allergic. Like Violet Beauregard Willy Wonka scary dangerous blow up and turn purple allergic. Yay. Fun. Especially with a billion other things to worry about when pregnant or TTC. Add to this that if you have a common mustard allergy you are supposed to be aware of the following (quoting from information from my allergist): "Mustard belongs to the Brassicaceae family which includes other members such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, turnip and rapeseed. Since these plants are closely related to mustard, their seeds contain very similar proteins to mustard seeds. People with mustard allergy should avoid consuming the seeds and sprouted seeds of other members of the Brassicaeae family as these have the potential to trigger an adverse reaction. While some people with mustard allergy have reported reactions to plants in the Brassicaeae family, such as cabbage or cauliflower, the protein in mustard seed that triggers allergic reactions is a specific seed storage protein that is not found in mature plants." And many people walking around with a severe mustard allergy like myself have no idea until they run into a problem. I was actually being tested for other Allergies (latex. yay more fun) when my oh-so-wise allergist ran a few other common ones. Like this. So why on earth this product has a common allergen in a prenatal I have no idea. I was lucky enough to NOT take it, in time but ONLY by chance. Or maybe angels. This arrived a few days after I got the allergy test results because I wanted to switch to something better than Costco's probably sourced in China stuff and I happened to re-look at the ingredients. Amazon was great with the return BTW. And I wasn't even 100% sure these ingredients were not sourced in China, but I figured it would be good to try while still researching and then I got lucky to find it in time. Scary close to a major problem. So please read closely because you're not just reading the label for you, but for two or more. I'm still looking for a better supplement. This was not it. Best wishes
