possible cost effective solution for your equine buddy's ulcers
i use these on my horse for his ulcers. there is a brand of equine paste that is costly, and extremely cost prohibitive to give over any length of time. i found a medical journal paper written about nexium given to equines that compared 40mg to 80mg dosing (Preliminary Study of the Gastric Acidity in Thoroughbred Horses at Rest after Enteral Administration of Esomeprazole Magnesium). although the nexium took a little longer to see the effects, it DID work, and he is on a sustained dose of 40mg capsules/day with his evening feed (along with probiotics). after 3 months of use, he currently is not displaying any ulcer symptoms when running my hand down his girth area. the nexium capsules are now part of his supplement regimen. i am not a vet, and am not giving medical advise for your animals or horse. i do recommend doing a search for the article if you find yourself in a similar situation, and to do a word search of "nexium" on the COTH website, to find others that have been using this to treat ulcers in their horses
